Well that was quite a short open beta. Anyway, Apotheon is now fully released for those who are interested. Would be nice to hear some thoughts on someone else's experience. Perhaps with a more modern computer than mine. :)
@Hyeron & Philip: Had Borderlands on my wishlist. Added Tiny and Big as well. Thanks.

Kind of a sucker for the Noir theme alone. Very curious to see how it plays out.

@micah: Thanks for confirming my laptop is archaic. :)
Yes, I never really found the appeal for super realistic games, especially when they seem to be so prevalent. I don't hate them, but my ability to relate between them becomes a little faceless (IE: first person perspectives). I apologize if I offended someone else's enjoyment in them, but this is strictly my subjective opinion, which in no way affects anybody's interest in them.
I would love to play a good game with cartoony-cel shaded art. I been looking though, and it seems that its mostly Japanese developers (who don't care much for Linux, or in Nintendo's case, PC entirely) who even make such things. If you played something like this that's for Linux, I would love to know! :)
Quoting: realkman666It's a bit sad that most will downplay the abysmal frame rate because of "colour and art", but thanks for the detailed impressions nonetheless.You're right, I probably shouldn't downplay it as far as I did. In my position though, I just don't want to make a big deal because I know my laptop is really crap for games. I would really like to see how it runs on something a bit more modern.
As for the asinine "... I just never got the hype around something so brown and grainy a lot of 3D titles threw around as "modern" art." comment, play the colourful 3D games, then. ;)

Divinity: Original Sin Is Pushing Ahead For The Linux Release

Quoting: wojtek88Honestly it's hard for me to believe that there are many people working on linux port of this game. It's been already more than half of a year since game was released. And what's important - linux port was anounced "just after Mac version". Mac version was released the same day windows version was released, linux port is not there yet.While I don't really judge on speculations (I care for results, even if it may come out late; time is subjective to the individual.), I do agree about not purchasing yet. I think we all have experienced disappointment on announcement releases enough to not deny this. If it happens to come out really late, I'll probably end up buying it on a cheap sale of that time frame. That's the developer's loss, so I don't really care about the process too much. If the port is good and their next game is ready to ship out, then they re-established customer relations to buy it at a higher retail rate.
I want to ask everyone who supports linux gaming - do not buy this game until it is officially released for linux, because I have a fear that many companies will learn wrong lesson, that it is enough to say "We will release linux version" but it won't happen at all.

@MajorLunaC,
You're expressing distrust from companies (which to some extent, I understand), but I'm afraid that doesn't translate to "Bad news" when there is no news to begin with. At least wait for the number crunching before going off the handle with speculations.

I think a lot of people forget that this is an indie company making their first step towards Linux porting. I know a lot of people are upset for waiting on broken promises from its community spokesperson and have already bought the game, but in itself I think we can now see that throwing money at a port announcement doesn't make things go faster. If anything, it probably made things a lot more stressful for everyone. So let us use this as a calm reminder to pay for any future ports (from any company) on their release. Personally, I should have taken this into consideration about this before I bought The Banner Saga and They Bleed Pixels from other indie devs, and I'm sure we all have our own stories.
To be honest, I foresee bugs (hopefully just minor) on its Linux launch day. However, as long as the developer is more than willing to work with us in bugfixes and updates on a regular basis, we should remain positive and most importantly, constructive in our feedback.
Regardless, I look forward to this port and many to come from Black Forest Games. Hopefully Giana Sisters will become a trend to release full Linux support from day one with their future releases.
Also after listening to their expectations of what DieselStörmers is, I am kind of curious what it turns out to be.
