I tried it on Stadia during this free trial period, and it was a stutter fest. Not good when you're trying to race. I even tried it with a wired connection on my Fiber network. It was better but still not nearly as good as a local copy would be.

there you go, there's a chance you might have to do it again next time you update you kernel.

I'm getting 120+ FPS @ 1440p Ultra Nightmare settings now :) (RTX 2080)

And just to clarify, if you update your kernel and forget that you manually installed the Nvidia driver, you'll get dropped to the command line on your next boot to remind you. :D

I hope Google learns from Nvidia and starts offering a away to play games you already have in your Steam/GOG libraries rather than having to buy online-only versions of those games.

Valve got developers interested in SteamOS by showing them the value of Linux as a gaming platform. Google has failed to do that with Stadia. They want developers to port to their platform exclusively. Why not port to Stadia and also release a Linux version? That gives developers more incentive since Linux already as a community, albeit a small one.

So, is it safe to say then that the games that still won't run in Proton are due to wacky code the developers have insisted upon in their games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2's Rockstar launcher?

On the one hand, it's good that DXVK has reached that level of maturity, but on the other hand, it's sad that certain games may never work on Linux.

I was one of the beta testers for it. I played Assassin's Creed Odyssey in my Chrome browser on Linux. It wasn't without its problems in terms of the connection quality going up and down, but it was playable. The good thing that came out of it at the end was that I got a free copy of the game.

I think that's what Google needs to do to lure people in. If they buy the game for Stadia, they need to also get a key on Steam, GOG or something else as some type of insurance policy.

This raises more questions for me. Let's say I already own a copy of Elder Scrolls Online. Can I just log into Stadia and start playing, or will it require a separate copy? Also, if I buy Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia, will that also give me access to a downloadable copy through GOG or some other store?
