I have no idea how you did this unless you manually compiled it and installed the files into the system, in which case you should be able to manually delete all the files. You would think, but how does someone manually compile and install "blind"? That would take at least some thought to pull off and most likely some reading of the instructions. I'm very curious.

Again, doubt it would happen. Are you just being a cautious pessimist, or do you have a reason why you doubt it will ever happen? It actually sounds like a really good idea and probably something that might ultimately be necessary if Valve is going to compete with these Xbox handhelds that are emerging, undoubtedly with full AMD driver and configuration software support.

How to see SteamOS compatibility in the store on desktop Linux? I only see "Steam Deck Compatibility."

I've now been using Wayland on my main PC for a couple of years, and it's been wonderful. I have another device with Intel graphics that had some performance issues with Wayland, so I'm glad they still leave X11 as an option. I think there may even already be a bug fix for that issue in the latest Plasma.

I think this will still be of interests to enthusiasts, but they probably have lost their chance to get in on the mainstream market. They could maybe drum up some interest if they came up with some unique alternative use cases like an app that utilizes the touchpads and does something you wouldn't expect like control your smart home or something (probably a bad example - that's why I'm not a tech innovator). They need a Nintendo-esque gimmick.

I'm sure they want to promote as something like Steam's Game Mode, but Microsoft can't seem to resist piling on their crap and forcing users into it. Even if it's not there at launch, eventually, they'll be tempted to ask users to install OneDrive, Copilot, etc. They can't help themselves. The sad thing is that a lot of people who already game on Windows will just accept it or even prefer it because of Microsoft's monopoly on PC gaming OS architecture (i.e. all the games they want will "just work").

I'm seeing a trickle of people wanting to move to Linux who have already decided to switch to AMD. If that trickle becomes a waterfall when SteamOS goes public, Nvidia might want to pick up the pace.

I agree that Valve needs to push harder, especially if they're planning to release SteamOS to the general public. It's nice that they added the anti-cheat label on Steam store pages, but they have enough leverage to do more since it's obvious these publishers want their games on Steam.
