Linux Mint 20.2 has a Beta version now available

Quoting: scaineI enjoyed my time on Mint. The kernel is a bit disappointing, but both Mint and Pop OS have kernel managers built-in anyway, so you can easily upgrade with a couple of clicks from the settings app.

I'll stick with Pop for the moment though. Having made the jump to gnome for xrdesktop, I don't really want to go back to Cinnamon, despite how slick it is. Maybe one day.
Same here. Cinnamon was there when I switched over to Linux when Proton was released. Did dabble before with Ubuntu flavors before that, but never lasted more then a few hours/day's because games...

I recently switched to KDE (on Arch(EndeavourOS), since I need my updates) and I can't ever go back. KDE is a lot more performant and has so many good visual eye-candy and let's also not forget I am running KDE on Wayland full-time and aside from a few quirks, it's perfection (and let's not forget Firefox on Wayland).

Thanks Cinnamon!

Looks good, but the weapon needs more swaying.

Right now the gameplay felt fast but the weapon animation felt like slowmotion compared to the speed he was moving.

Felt disconnected.

VR is absolutely insane, I am officially a convert and it works mostly great on Linux

Yup, it is amazing.

Once in a while I try it at my cousin.

But for now, the price for entry is too high and I am also waiting for the resolution to improve and to have less wires and all that.

But the experience is amazing though, especially horror games.

The sense of presence rocks.

Quoting: Luke_NukemThis work plus the 470 driver fixing hybrid laptop things is pretty exciting
What is a hybrid laptop?

Is that what I have on my work laptop? Which is a Intel CPU and also a Intel GPU inside of it and a dedicated NVIDIA GPU?

Right now, on my work laptop, I am using the nouveau drivers because they perform better with KDE and with the nouveau drivers I can also set 2560x1440 as a resolution on my 4K laptop screen.

With the official drivers I cant change it from 3840x2160 on my laptop screen.

Pretty annoying since I don't want to use scaling ever since it never works properly 100% regarding how apps themselves scale.

Google shutting their internal game dev studios, focusing directly on Stadia tech

This is why I never payed for it, aside from trying the free trial. It was just a matter of time before Google would do something like this.

Give it some more time and they will just cancel the whole Stadia thing.

Anyway, I will always prefer native gaming. Streaming can't ever meet the visual quality of native gaming.

Quoting: Sojiro84Eventually I also needed a new home because of some of the stuff that happened at Manjaro.

I didn't wanted a normal distro and I liked arch so EndeavourOS it was!

I definitely needed to adjust my arch install script a lot. Manjaro come with a lot of stuff by default that I needed and liked and wasn't in the base Arch+Cinnamon package.

But, after many test runs in VirtualBox and adjusting my install script, my system is now always quickly up and running with all the packages I need, program settings are restored and the same goes for my Cinnamon settings and my system is basically almost the same as it was in Manjaro!
Ummm, you and the author (Liam) both mentioned things happening recently with Manjaro. I've been running Manjaro-KDE for several years on a couple of workstations, and I'm not aware of anything going on... What's been happening?
I remember a page that described many of Manjaro's issues, but right now I can only find this one: https://github.com/vizs/manjarno [External Link]

I ignored most of it when I found out, nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, but at some point, I can't make any more excuses.

For me, the reason was how the donated funds was used for personal stuff. There was a discussion on the forums (the old one, thread doesn't exist anymore, how convenient) started by a staff member to discuss it, but the project lead hid the thread from public eyes. Delisted it. So nobody could find the thread unless they had a direct link.

Ah, found the reddit thread that brought it all to light! https://old.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/hwoev3/change_of_treasurer_for_manjaro_community_funds/ [External Link]

And here is the thread that started it all on the Manjaro forums: https://web.archive.org/web/20200807042341/https://forum.manjaro.org/t/change-of-treasurer-for-manjaro-community-funds/154888 [External Link]

This article sums up my thoughts as well.

Ubuntu is too safe and doesn't update fast enough for me with regards to kernels and mesa's. I need the latest to keep on gaming.

I was on Manjaro, it was the distro (together with the proton happening) that made me switch over to Linux and had a good experience.

Eventually I also needed a new home because of some of the stuff that happened at Manjaro.

Black characters is fixed. I wasn't on the latest of latests of the mesa-git. After compiling it fresh everything works properly now.

Ahh, just tried it but in character creation, all the models are black. So can't play it at the moment until this is fixed.

Hard to create a character when you can't see the effects of the options.

I am on the latest mesa-git.

Any other AMD users had the same issue?

I wonder what settings I will get to use with Cyberpunk. All I need is 4K 30FPS for chill couch gaming.

But DX12 to Vulkan is still beta, so I guess that is too much to ask at this time. But who knows!

But this is damn amazing. Good job Valve!
