Quoting: TheBossEh, Liam, Liam ;) I had the same problem as chuzzle44, but I recognized You by over 500 hours of DOTA 2 on Steam ;)Quoting: chuzzle44Forgive me for going off topic, but I'm a little confused about something. Is TheBoss Liam or someone else. Someone called him Liam in the last post, but I could have sworn that I've seen TheBoss post before, and I don't remember Liam changing his username.Liam is around somewhere, long live TheBoss.
Wine Is Now In A Code Freeze For Wine 1.8

To be honest - Good support of DX11 in Wine is much better for all the Linux gamers than Witcher 3 port. Why? Because if it's good you can play Witcher 3 and all other DX11 games. Of course it won't be as good as native gaming, but some of the games works on Wine better than ports.
I guess all of you remember first version of Witcher 2 port. It was just running better on Wine with CMST than nativly. For many gamers it is still true.
Yet another example is DIRT 3 Complete Edition. It does not have Linux port, but DIRT Showdown looks and behaves similar (I bet it uses same engine, but I can be wrong). Anyway DIRT 3 (through wine) works much better than DIRT Showdown (which is native). DIRT 3 works better performance wise, it does not contain bugs (while on DIRT Showdown cars don't have wheels, and VP is unable to fix it) and it does not crash (while DIRT Showdown crashes from time to time).
I don't want to blame VP, because other porting companies make their own mistakes also (Feral's Shadow of Mordor or Company of Heroes are not good performance wise, I don't own Alien Isolation so I cannot say anything here). What I want to say is, assuming that you have no problem with playing on Wine, you will have more titles available when Wine with DX11 support is out. If You have Witcher 3 port, you can just play this game, and you have no guarantee that this port will be golden.
Most important for us, Linux gamers, is to have Vulkan API implemented in all of the popular engines. Then let's see what happens. Until that moment, Wine can be good option for many of us.
And one last sentence - I wish all of us all of the stuff that was discussed here - good DX11 support in Wine, Native linux port of Witcher 3, and Vulkan API released and implemented in all of the popular engines. And I wish it happens soon.

Major Engine & Content Update To The MMO War Thunder

That sounds great. My problem is that whenever I see "MMO" abbreviation I know that this game is not for me. I just play when I can and as long as I can (usually with frequent breaks) so MMO games are just not for me.
Anyway, I'm sure that there are a lot of people that will play this title because it looks very nice.

I like to listen how Chris is talking about Steam Controller and Steam Machine. Some time before there was a video with him regarding Steam Controller, now the one regarding Alienware Steam Machine. I have to say that guy has to believe in what he is saying, because he sounds really convincing.

Quoting: neowiz73(...) this goes to show that there should be a Linux icon along with SteamOS then. Because on Linux it works perfectly fine, just not on SteamOS.I have an impression that almost every user of this site already wrote this sentence :). Anyway, we all agree with you (at least I can tell that I agree, and according to all the posts on this site, many other users also agree).
Darksiders & Darksiders II Linux Ports Have Not Been Forgotten About

If the game would be 98% finished it would be already released. The problem is that it is 98% of state that they would consider acceptable, not 98% of golden game.
I have spent some time while playing Deadfull Adventures ported by Leszek Godlewski (former porting guy in Nordic games). Port is cool, respect to him, but load time of the game and menu behaviour are something that shouldn't be released. And I guess (assuming that Darksiders finds it's way to Linux) it won't be better here.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition May Actually Hit The Linux Release Next Month
4 Nov 2015 at 9:17 pm UTC
I wrote it once on this page but I will write it once again. Larian Studios have decided to use crowdfunding to make their game. So they did not have the money to make a game, they received it. In order to receive more money they made a promise that they never wanted to keep.
In my opinion it was very clean for them, that if they promise Linux version, more money will come. They just decided to get free loan, and they just wanted to give money back to people who only wanted Linux version as a refund. When they realized, that Linux version was very important for many people, they started to work on it, but with 1 or 2 students (like Techland on Dying Light Linux port). Because those students were not able to make the software in few days, they decided that they will provide more time to them while making promise of "Enhanced Edition" delivery. But still, they did not enhance porting team. At the end they decided to provide the port and maybe even enhance the proting team (by 1 person ;) ) when they finished ps4 and xone versions.
As a result of their great work we can expect linux version, that crashes a lot, works on one linux distribution and we shouldn't expect any updates and bug fixes of the released version. It will be just "take it and let us leave without Linux" version of their game.

Quoting: NelI think they did not postpone release for fun. I guess they postponed the release because they did not invest even 1 percent of work they had to in order to deliver solid software.Quoting: edqeDo you think they postponed the release for fun?Fun? No.
But, laziness? incompetence? not-give-a-shit? all three?

Batman: Arkham Knight Will Be Available On Linux And SteamOS In Spring 2016

Quoting: FuriousSome time ago Feral stated on Twitter that their port will use Windows port codebase.Quoting: linuxgamerI wouldn't be so pesimistic about this. There is a chance they will port the game with console version as a base. In general windows version problems come from poor comsole-windows porting. I hope it will run great ;)Quoting: Mountain ManWouldn't it be ironic if Feral managed to get this running better on Linux than on Windows? Here's hoping.I seriously doubt this, as they (probably) aren't wizards. There's a chance if they will use Vulkan (don't really believe in AAA Vulkan ports until Q2/16) and if they don't rely too much on the crappy Win port.
