Quoting: SolitaryI wasn't using protontricks, so I finally cave and installed it. The command Xpander gave (protontricks 35140 d3dx9 d3dcompiler_43) did the trick, the game finally started. But there was a small catch: since I had my set of flight sticks plugged, the game considered them as a gamepad, so other gamepads didn't work, only the Steam Controller. I unplugged them and finally I could enjoy the thing on a real gamepad.Quoting: M@GOidCan you be more specific? I don't remember if I had to do anything, but maybe I did... I have played Arkham Asylum long time ago, and last time I played it was on Steam Deck and that was also year ago.Quoting: SolitaryAfter the starter screen (with the settings) it crashes, shows a window with some error and closes. The next game, Arkham City works fine, but I had never managed to get Asylum to run, no matter which version of Proton I'm using. This have been like this since the appearance of Proton.Quoting: M@GOidI wished the fixed Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY. To this day I still cannot play it.What's wrong? I replayed entire Batman Arkham series on Steam Deck, I don't remember any of them not working at all.

There seems to be one advice repeating even on Deckprotontricks d3dx9 d3dcompiler_43

I got into portable M.2 storage when the fastest (~150/170MB/s) flashdrive I had said goodby, less than a year after I got it. After the refund I got a Corsair "GT" that said to be USB 3.0, but could only deliver 50MB/s. I was very pissed off because the thing was more expensive than the faster Lexar I had.
Later I saw a USB adapter for M.2 drivers. It was dirt cheap and together with the cheapest 120GB M.2 drive I could find, it was only 60% of the price I paid for the over-hyped Corsair "GT" 3.0 with only 32GB. So I bought it, and it was the biggest surprise I had gambling with unknown hardware. Even being only a SATA M.2 driver paired with a cheap USB adapter, they could still provide ~400MB/s, while having four times the capacity and costing almost half of the last "high speed" flashdrive I had.
Never again I will spend money on over-hyped flash storage. From now on I will "roll my own".

This company gathered a lot of good will for them in the tech community. Everyone and their grandmother want them to succeed.
But they better lower their early expectations of profits. History is full of breakthrough products that failed to gain traction, because they cost too much compared to proven solutions.
Right now cooling fans are mass produced and dirt cheap. While this has its advantages, some manufacturers may find it prohibitive to implement if it raises the end price too much. So it is possible, for example, that this ends up in a Steam Deck competitor that cost over 1000 dollars, because Valve may find it too costly to implement in a 400 bucks base model Steam Deck.

Seems alright to me. They could do a lot worse if you look at what some big studios are doing.

Is stuff like this that makes me stay in my position of only buy officially supported Linux games. Like others mentioned, there is already too much stuff to play. I'm not losing my sleep even if Half Life 3 get launched and don't receive a Linux port.

Quoting: GroganI only played it for that long because I found myself a tight group to play coop. That and thanks to the community, a healthy amount of "AAA" maps that Valve would not be wrong to grab and launch as L4D3.Quoting: M@GOidL4D2 is overrated. There is nothing special in that game. And I did not played over 3000 hours of it. No sir.I used to like that game for half an hour or so. I seldom finished an entire level (I just played single player). My favourite was the swamp level, I'd have been more likely to finish all the parts of that one.
They did a lot of work on that game years later. However, they dumbed down the ONE thing that actually amused me about that game. The gore! It used to be utterly over the top, now it's modest.
