Quoting: pete910To be honest having used HDR on windows in the Past and films ect on my LG oled I cant say it's that impressive. For the most part it resembles some turning the Saturation and colours up to full.

Dare say it's a personnel preference thing at the end of the day.
What I find amusing is that the first Far Cry basically had a software version of HDR in it. So when you'd go into a cave, it'd be really dark, then it was like your eyes would adjust, then when you left a cave, it'd be really bright...
I think Fallout III did something like this when leaving the bunker vault for the first time (in your life).
Yeah, seems a few games here and there since then had similar things going on. I just remember the CryTek engine being one of the first ones to attempt to do a lot of crazy lighting things like that. Granted it'd also choke on the lava areas!

Then for many many years, no one tried to implement anything similar. Now I play Assassin's Creed: Odyssey with HDR, and it basically does the same thing. The sun coming up over the mountain is beautiful, but much like the real sun, is too bright to really look at. But coming out of a dark cave, has that same temporary blindness effect.

But this is really the only reason I boot into Windows, currently. Once all the feature set of my graphics card is supported under Linux, there won't be much need for reboots :)

I'm now officially converted to the RGB LED religion and OpenRGB is amazing

Quoting: rcritI've always wondered where these blinged out rigs sit. My case is on the floor to my left so the only LED I can see is the front fan, and barely that. Do you have it sitting on your desk to your right to enjoy all the blinkin` lights to their fullest? I can never hear my case fans, I wonder how it is next to your head.
I never put my PC on the floor. I don't need it getting kicked by children, bumped by people, hit by mops and vacuums, or sucking up floor dust and dirt (even if it has fan filters) It sits on my desk next to my monitor.

No, It's not loud, barely even noticable. It's easier to route cables and peripherals. And easier to access for cleaning. Which means it does get cleaned.

And no, I don't have Lighting or anything. My case is stock.
I solve all of those issues (except dust) by living alone!

Ha, 'stock' is relative. When you couldn't get an RTx 30000 series, I ended up buying a full system... which had the glass panel, RGB everywhere, etc. That was 'stock'. Granted I ripped out all of the components and shoved them into my Fractal Design R6 case, and my old stuff went into the RGB case which is downstairs. Sorry, but that damn bright thing doesn't even have a 5.25" bay for an optical drive... thanks for taking away our options...

Awesome! That was my big complaint, I'd hook it up, but couldn't unlock the deck unless I grabbed it directly.
I was referring to the lock screen of KDE, but in regards to the game mode lock screen, you can use a mouse to click the numbers as well.
Hmm, I'll have to give that a shot. That the numbers on the keyboard don't work is rather annoying.

I always have the fear that I'll take the side panel off to do an upgrade and the glass will shatter, so solid cases for me! So while I have RGB memory/video card right now, I can't ever see it. Also nice not to have an obnoxious glare of colors on my floor, as I put my tower under my table.

On the other hand, I do have an RGB mouse and keyboard. I think they even will do some sort of sync (I think it's called AlienFX) but that is definitely something not supported in anything Linux.

Quoting: AsciiWolfHalo: The Master Chief Collection EAC support when?
Isn't there a Proton made by Valve that was specifically for EAC games? Just called "Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime".
It's not "a Proton", it's a runtime to hook in with older EAC. Games need to be updated to have EAC enabled for Linux but for some games there's other problems it seems.
Yup, there is a BattleEye version as well.

Quoting: harreUpdate: Today I wanted to play the game and Proton was crashing for me all the time and reverting back to native Linux I have an updated working game again
Yeah, the native has been working for a few weeks, but has been missing the latest update with the new leaders, have they fixed that yet?

Quoting: RedWyvernThis is a great update which I have been using since it was launched on the Preview channel, for the KDE Plasma update.
I use my Deck as a Linux tablet as much or more than a gaming machine and for this the newer Plasma version makes a big difference.
The recent keyboard and audio fixes (though the latter isn't fully solved) make it almost perfect.

But one regression in this update is the disabling of hardware acceleration for e.g. H.264.
WWhen streaming from Deck over Steam Link or Moonlight, it now runs hot and uses more battery from the x264 video encoding and sends a blurry image.

Some of the not particularly smart people on the Steam Fora are posting about working around this here [External Link].
Spoiler, click me
Am joking and referring to myself.
Or on the GitHub [External Link] issue too I suppose.
Which goes to show that Linux DEs are capable of being a tablet, we just need a company to stick around after making some hardware... JingPad is an amazing device, but is only being hacked on by the community as they went bust.

We do need more tablet friendly applications though...

This unmounts the removable drive, it does not physically eject it
... well duh.

Did they really have to write this?
You've seen the Steam forums right? People in general are not particularly smart :P
Must be Mac users.

(Where literally it would eject a floppy when you unmounted it)

On a different note, has anyone tried hacking something together for Death Stranding to work with an elliptical? I always feel as though if I am walking, I should be going somewhere. And since Death Stranding is basically a walking simulator, it would be perfect for this...
