Steam Deck UI comes to Desktop in Beta to replace Big Picture Mode

By the way, the ability to use -gamepadui on the desktop client has been there for a while. Is this just more of an official bullet point in the changelog?

Quoting: ArehandoroI'm both happy and upset about the news of more remakes.
In my mind, what they should do, if they mean a 'proper' remake, is redo all three so you can beat one right after the other and keep some progress on your character like some older RPGs did.

I have seen you post often on these kind of news and was curious (no joke) about what would be your RTS poison of choice.
Good pick, this is from the "golden era", really the other ones on the race could be Total Annihilation and some C&C.

Between OpenRA and 0AD, they are doing an amazing work here. OpenRA engine offers potential long term survival on a game like this, especially if we consider multiplayer.

Command and Conquer series is also good. Myth is an amazing series. Generally I like ones that break the mold of the typical Warcraft II / Star Craft clones.

Like I prefer the games where your units have a bit more personality (as in they can get better over time, and you want to make sure they live through a battle, Myth captures that in an amazing way, as does Warwind.)

Thoughts on the official Steam Deck Docking Station

Quoting: Mountain ManMultiple displays seem to be a problem for Linux in general. I've been wanting to add a second monitor to my setup for a while, but it would require a lot of hand editing of configuration files, and even that doesn't provide a guaranteed "it just works" solution.
Huh?

I've been using two monitors now for as long as I can remember, on Linux. With AMDGPU it's pretty much plug and play, a desktop environment like Gnome, KDE, XFCE etc will for the most part do the heavy lifting for you.

With nvidia, as always it was a little more complex the last time I used it (around 2-3 years ago), but even then the binary blob used to (and probably still does?) provide a graphical interface for configuring monitor layouts and generated an xorg file for you.
It's plug and play with everything... with a small exception of if you have something like an nvidia/Optimus laptop. This is a hardware issue though, not software, as some laptops don't like to let you use the external displays unless you're forcing them into Discrete graphics mode. Other than that, Linux has handled multiple monitors for decades just fine. I run two 2560x1440 and a 3840x1200 monitor as my desktop setup, and it's amazing.

The original game used the Aurora engine from Neverwinter Nights. I wonder how much the game will change if they end up like 2 and 3 which are third person, of course. Would be rather silly not to with UE5 engine...

JSAUX cancels current Steam Deck Dock with RGB, after competitor pinched it

They should work with dbrand and make sure their case will work with the new dock. Their current dock does work, but sits a little weird at the base.

EA begins swapping out Origin for EA app on Steam

Spoiler alert: I’m quite certain it actually is an electron App.

And it follows all the modern design trends of having big bloaty UI elements, an interface made to look like a twitterfeed or something and is generally cumbersome and confusing to use. At least EA is current and keeping up with the industry in that department…
About the only electron based app I have seen that doesn't make me want to run amok is Discord, otherwise they've all be pretty shitty.

Ubuntu has a paywall for their OS download

...
Just checked, and at the moment they don't have one. As far as I know, they never had one. The "worst" I recall having seen from canonical in this area is a pre-download donation request which was easily skipped.
Yeah, no clue why someone ever thought there was a paywall for it. Hell, they used to offer sending you physical CDs for free. I know, I still have some.
