BATTLETECH has a new story trailer to show off

Quoting: GuestI hear bad things about gameplay forced animations that can make unbearably slow to actually play.
And a damned paradox account is required. Don't know if single player can work without it, but I actively avoid games that need multiple account hoops to jump through. If single player requires it...no way I buy this game even if it ever gets released on GNU/Linux.
According to the GOG version of this game...

Quoting: Info under the Battletech EULAPlease Note: BATTLETECH uses Paradox Accounts. You don't need an account to play the campaign or single-player skirmish modes. However, you do need a Paradox Account to challenge other players in 1v1 multiplayer matches and to redeem unlock codes for Kickstarter Backer or Pre-Order DLC.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWhile I recognize that it is time for me for to upgrade from my trusty Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS to Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS.. But I will Never upgrade to a non LTS... I will try 18.04 months later, when it became mature; Every new LTS Ubuntu has some problems.

I have afraid to brake something in the upgrade process...
I installed beta version of 18.04 in March on 10 computers at my work, everything works fine. Ubuntu is stable enough now.
You have only 8 GB of RAM, and the game (at least on my computer) eats 9. Maybe that's the reason of your segfaults?
No, is not the memory... I just installed another 8GB (all modules of same brand and model) and the SISSEGV (11) Segmentation Fault persist..

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoOk, You convinced me.. Im gonna upgrade.. But if after the reboot one of my programs (like Crossover) refuses to work or If I have to reinstall anything, Im gonna be veeery mad with the Linux world...
I'm gonna be very upset if I have to login to all my social stuff again or if I lost all my Firefox tabs..

By the way. There are THREE user accounts on this machine and I don't want to lost anything.
For Firefox, export your tabs and email it to yourself so it is backed-up on the internet(like gmail).

Do you have an idea how many tabs I have opened?? Maybe I will try with Firefox Sync feature..

Quoting: DanglingPointerIf you're adamant on not going to Ubuntu 16.04.4, then just upgrade the linux kernel on your Ubuntu 14.04.
I never tried Ukuu with 14.04 but theoretically it should work. You can then get the latest stable mainline kernel pre-compiled by Canonical.
If you have boot problems, try a cold restart (shutdown computer, wait 60secs, then restart). If it still doesn't work, Grub will appear and let you choose a previous version of kernel. Just remember not to delete the previous version of kernel.
I've got 3 versions always. Whenever I get the next stable mainline, I delete the oldest one.
I don't have a problem to upgrade to Ubuntu.16.04.4; my problem is that I have afraid to break some of my programs or lost some user accounts in this machine..

About the kernel, according to Ubuntu Sysinfo, this is what I have 4.4.0-121-generic (#145~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 16 18:40:43 UTC 2018)

I have my Steam games folder on a separate drive, so I'm gonna buy a new SSD for to do a clean OS install and problem solved..In this way, my trusty Ubuntu 14 will be safe on its own drive.

Quoting: BrissePlease take my advice and upgrade to the Bionic Beaver as soon as possible, and no later than 18.04.1. By using outdated software you are actually causing yourself more headaches than any potential upgrade issue would cause you. The issues you describe in your recent posts are evidence enough of that.
Quoting: DanglingPointerThe game isn't broken, I haven't had a single crash or error and I'm using a GCNv1.1 card on Mesa using 16.04.4!

If they aren't production servers and you're playing "games" on them, improve your life and upgrade to the next Ubuntu LTS.
Then install Ukuu and install the latest Canonical compiled stable mainline kernel. See the word "stable" in there? Its stable for desktop use for 90% of everyone.
Get the latest Padoka Stable PPA to get the latest Mesa.
Then your life is improved and say good-bye to all your segmentation cr@p.

You should be afraid of your setup now with errors and crashes, not upgrading which gets rid of all of them.

They can not recommend a non LTS distro... A non LTS version is no more than a BETA.

The game must be the broken one, because I am not the only one with this SISSEGV (11) Segmentation Fault thing.
Well, I haven't had a single crash here, Fedora 27 fully updated with Nvidia drivers and Steam from Negativo17. Sorry to hear that you got such problems.

The only time I had crashes (on startup) with Feral games was with DX-MD. I tried to reproduce the crashes on a system they support on a spare disk. I could reproduce the issue and opened a support ticket. Turns out my CPU was to old. I rightfully got indeed the message in the launcher that my CPU was unsupported ;). I would advise to take the same approach.

No. LTS is simply a release with a stability focus and a longer support cycle. That's what LTS means: Long Term Support.

Although I do agree that they should support the latest LTS. In a couple of days that'll be 18.04. :)
I understand if the don't want to support the obsolete Ubuntu 12.04 LTS [External Link] and even the very much alive Ubuntu 14.04 LTS [External Link], but Ubuntu 16.04 LTS [External Link] MUST be supported..

And It can be easily translated to other languages..

Is very promising...
CDprojekt should hire this Ivan Yancharkin guy.

Imagine GOG and Steam being shutdown in the next three months...

About GOG, You have three months for to download your entire library for Linux (and Windows and MAC too, just in case), and as long as you have backups of your gog games, you can install them in the years to come in your new machines, even if the store doesn't exist anymore, because the games are DRMFREE...
Quoting: GOG's sloganYou buy it- it's yours...
DRM-free means no copy protection, on-line checks, or any other annoyances. It’s all about just you and your games and movies. You should feel you own the products that you buy - just like a book, or a DVD.

On GOG.com, no matter if you are online or offline, you will never be locked away from your purchases.

With Steam, You have three months for to download your entire library too.. Once Steam is down, you can play offline most of the games on that machine.. Even you can move some games to another machine and play them without the client...
But that's all.. even if you manually copy all your library to new PC, You will need to authenticate your Steam account credentials on that machine, but You can't, because Steam is down...
That's it.. You loose the games you paid for...

This is why I purchased Firewatch on GOG... And, as long as I have my backup, even if GOG is shut down, the game Is mine for the years to come.. ^_^
