Can I add my GOG profile [External Link] in my GamingonLinux details?

Quoting: hummer010And this whole discussion is why, on the GOG forums, we refer to these games as "games you can play without the Steam client".

If you call them DRM-free, arguments ensue. Calling them "games you can play without the Steam client" accurately describes them, while avoiding the arguments.
Well... Crysis 3 and Battlefield 1 are "games you can play without the Steam client", but they are not DRMFREE at all...

Seriously, I can accept DRM for subscription services like Origin Access, because the games are not yours (for 5U$D per month You can play a lot of games without actually buying them)... Valve must take a note of that.

I recommend DRM exclusively for Online Multiplayer games, because cheaters must be exterminated from the gaming world and DRM can help.. Lan multiplayers must be DRMFREE

But, infecting a SINGLEPLAYER game (like LIS or Fallout 4, for example) with DRM is something I don't accept...
When a company infect a SINGLEPLAYER game with DRM (call it Denuvo, Steamworks, Uplay, whatever) is because that company really doesn't trust in their consumers... And when a gaming company doesn't trust in Us, the consumers, it doesn't deserve our money... Is that simple..

It will be useful to have a list of Steam games for Linux that can run without the client running in the background...

This list [External Link] doesn't help much because it has a lot of Windows only games..

Quoting: hummer010Yes, yes you can.

In fact, you don't need the Steam client, you need a Steam client. I use SteamCMD, and play several Steam games without even having the client installed on my computer. Neither SteamCMD, nor the Steam client need to be running for the games on that list to work, and you can simply copy the install folder to another computer, and it will still work.
Time to do some experiments...

Now, if you, people, don't have it, the important thing here is to buy Firewatch on GOG as soon as posible, just as a precaution in case of the new owner decide to remove it.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWait, so you're saying that software having an installer == DRM?
I never said that..

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoGOG Galaxy client is OPTIONAL for to download the games, Steam client is MANDATORY for to download the games...
In that case, you might as well say the GOG website is DRM.
No. Because once you have downloaded the game installers from the website, you can copy them to an external drive and install them on as many machines you have at home without the need of an internet connection on each machine, and that's why they are DRMFREE...

It is impossible to do the same with Steam games..
Can you move these games [External Link] to another of your machines using an external HDD?

Quoting: Doc AngeloI don't think so. But maybe we have different definitions of what DRM means.

The Steam client is the very same as GOG Galaxy or the GOG website.

No! GOG Galaxy client is OPTIONAL for to download the games, Steam client is MANDATORY for to download the games...

DXVK, the Vulkan compatibility layer for Direct3D 11 and Wine has a fresh release reducing CPU overhead
20 Apr 2018 at 8:38 pm UTC

Solved!

Inside /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json there was a wrong entry:
{
    "file_format_version" : "1.0.0",
    "ICD": {
        "library_path": "libGL.so.1",
        "api_version" : "1.1.70"
    }
}

the correct nvidia_icd.json is (at least for my Ubuntu/Nvidia system):

{
    "file_format_version" : "1.0.0",
    "ICD": {
        "library_path": "libGLX_nvidia.so.0",
        "api_version" : "1.1.70"
    }
}

And the Vulkan-smoketest works fine...

Now, I need to make it work on Wine 3.6 via Playonlinux

I need a file called winevulkan.dll but it is not available on Wine 3.6

How to install this on a Playonlinux prefix?

I installed the GOG edition of Metro 2033 Redux using WIne 3.6 via POL and the game load and works (but with a very bad audio)..
how to install and enable DXVK on that prefix?

(And how to fix that audio problem, if it is possible?)

Wine 3.6 is out with work towards high DPI support and BattlEye fixes

Satellite Reign is currently free in the Humble Store, lots of Linux games on sale across different stores

Rise of The Tomb Rider being on sale in the same day of the release of the Linux version, is not crazy, Liam...
I presume this was the real reason behind the delay of the Linux version of ROTTR...

I guess Feral already knew beforehand about this Steam "VR Spring Sale" and decided to do the things commercially right: A release with a launch sale... It worked for me, at least.

I'm gonna buy Talos Principle Gold too, for gift (about 6.65 U$D)
