Not really into horror games -- not because they scare me; they just don't interest me -- but still, I'm not going to turn down free!

The Linux version of Civilization VI has been updated with cross-platform multiplayer support

Quoting: slaapliedjeI have considered getting this for the Switch, just because it is portable. Really wish something like the SMACH-Z would come out so I could play Steam games on a portable.
The Switch version is awesome. It's not a stripped down port but the full game, feature-for-feature identical to the PC version, and it runs great. I highly recommend it.

ReignMaker 2 combines Match-3 gameplay with Tower Defense and more genres spliced together

Reminds me of Puzzle Quest 2 [External Link], which is not a bad thing because that's a terrific game, but I've always enjoyed these kinds of games better on a mobile platform (such as Puzzle Quest 2 on the Nintendo DS).

Shafer is the designer behind Civilization V
So another crappy and useless AI?
Crappy AI that is Civilization VI not V, Civilization V was awsome. :P
Civ V and VI have essentially the same AI. To be fair, Civ games have never had particularly great AI, but that has never stopped me from playing "just one more turn" long after I should have gone to bed!

Wow, I had totally forgotten about this. Jon Shafer has a lot of experience designing games like this having worked on the Civilization series at Firaxis and the Elemental series at Stardock. It certainly looks like a different take on the 4X formula, which is a good thing.

I thought this game was an amusing novelty but vastly overrated.

Quoting: Mountain ManI don't know if I would call a shop exclusively for a single game engine from a single publisher "serious competition" for Steam. Unless Epic tries to muscle developers to only release through the Epic store (unlikely) then I suspect most folks will publish to Steam and GoG as well and collect their profits from whichever distribution system customers happen to use.
Hmm.. Epic's announcement specifically mentions that the store is open for games using any engine. It is not Unreal Engine exclusive.

Edit:

From their announcement: "All Engines Are Welcome
The Epic Games store is open to games built with any engine, and the first releases span Unreal, Unity and internal engines."

And from Liam's article: "Although, to be clear, they state their store will be open to any game engine."
Yeah, I think there's a good few people who didn't read the details.
Who has time to read articles? It's so much more fun to just jump in and comment.

Anyway, yeah, they have a better shot at doing business if they allow games made with other engines. Not "dethrone Steam" kind of business, but they might make a few bucks.

NVIDIA have now made PhysX open source
3 Dec 2018 at 8:44 pm UTC

I think this is a good thing. I've always hated the proprietary nature of PhysX because it could only be used for inconsequential eye-candy. Developers couldn't tightly integrate physics to gameplay because that would have eliminated every customer who didn't have an Nvidia card. So instead all we ever got were little perks like banners waving in the breeze, or volumetric fog, things that made no difference in terms of gameplay.

Maybe with it going open source, we'll see physics meaningfully implemented in games again.

Quoting: Mountain ManI gave up on this on this game when the developers never bothered to fix the Steam Controller bug in Linux. I emailed them, they acknowledge that they were aware a bug existed that prevented the Steam Controller from being recognized, and then proceeded to do nothing about it. I'm still kinda pissed off.
You can use Steam controller in ETS2 with sc-controller. You can emulate an xbox controller and then customize it as you wish

https://github.com/kozec/sc-controller [External Link]

It's important that you load first SC-Controller and then run Steam
I'm aware of the workaround. But my point is, the developers have not seen a single dime from me since my initial purchase simply because they are aware of but never bothered to fix this bug.
For me at last, Steam Controller is working right now. But keep in mind that:

1- I do not have SC-Controller installed;
2- I'm using Steam Client Beta;
3- I in (K)Ubuntu 18.04;
4- I updated my SC firmware via Steam.

I mentioned this on the Steam forum for both ATS and ETS2 and some people confirmed it is working, while others said it was not.
Hey, you're right, it works now! The dropdown list even specifies "Wireless Steam Controller", and all the control inputs can be configured, so it looks like the developers finally squashed that infamous bug. I take back (most of) what I said.
