I just wonder if this game is going to have the right "feel" being on the Unreal Engine. It might look like a Half-Life game, but will it feel like one?

Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation inches closer to a Linux release with Vulkan

Quoting: jarhead_hPiracy isn't an issue on Linux, because we barely get anything to pirate, and when we do we're so happy to be able to pay for whatever it is that we do so.
Things have certainly changed. I can still remember when the majority of Linux users insisted that everything should be free and effectively drove commercial developers away from Linux with rampant piracy.

"We still have a long, long way to go..."

That's not an encouraging sign. It sounds like they're still in the range of years before this sees a release. Stardock should have worked towards a simultaneous release with Windows, which would have gotten them in on the ground floor of Linux gaming when there was less competition. As it is, I think this game has long passed its "sell by" date.

Not really into horror games -- not because they scare me; they just don't interest me -- but still, I'm not going to turn down free!

Quoting: slaapliedjeI have considered getting this for the Switch, just because it is portable. Really wish something like the SMACH-Z would come out so I could play Steam games on a portable.
The Switch version is awesome. It's not a stripped down port but the full game, feature-for-feature identical to the PC version, and it runs great. I highly recommend it.

Reminds me of Puzzle Quest 2 [External Link], which is not a bad thing because that's a terrific game, but I've always enjoyed these kinds of games better on a mobile platform (such as Puzzle Quest 2 on the Nintendo DS).

Shafer is the designer behind Civilization V
So another crappy and useless AI?
Crappy AI that is Civilization VI not V, Civilization V was awsome. :P
Civ V and VI have essentially the same AI. To be fair, Civ games have never had particularly great AI, but that has never stopped me from playing "just one more turn" long after I should have gone to bed!

Wow, I had totally forgotten about this. Jon Shafer has a lot of experience designing games like this having worked on the Civilization series at Firaxis and the Elemental series at Stardock. It certainly looks like a different take on the 4X formula, which is a good thing.

I thought this game was an amusing novelty but vastly overrated.
