A reason for poor performance on AMD plus Mesa has been found and a patch is in progress

Quoting: babaiI Agree that customers should expect proper performance right now and not wait for another year, also this fix will probably go into the radeonSI userspace driver and not MESA.
Still, AMD has contributed much code to MESA in the past years, show me some from NVIDIA (no please not any Tegra DRM code)?
If you are using Linux for freedom/open source idealism, ideologically you SHOULD buy AMD products and not tell me how a 1060 overpowers an RX480 today. AMD had no obligations towards supporting MESA or opening up millions of lines of DPM code for their chips. They still did.
Support a company that supports your platform.
If you don't follow the open source philosophy and using Linux just because you like say the millions of widget themes it supports or for any other reason, buy Nvidia.
*Cautiously points out that AMD GPUs require closed firmware blobs.

Killing Floor 2 release date announced, Linux version to be post-launch

I honestly thought KF2 was going to release last November because it had already been in early access for so long even back then.

Aspyr Media are teasing something to come in three days time (updated)

Quoting: finaldestI agree with others who have stated that it will be Civ6 or The Witcher 3 but I am going with Civ6.

I would love it to be Doom or GTA5 but I can only dream.
San Andreas would be ideal since it is older now and relatively small (as software) compared to newer GTAs. Other franchises have tested the Linux waters by first porting older or smaller titles. Doubtful that Rockstar would do so, but again, one can only dream.

Three retro Disney games are now on GOG with Linux support

We have already established that these Disney games GOG just added are no longer abandonware so loggfreak is not referring to these games when he says "they simply don't give you an option to pay for it." I'm sure we can all think of a few ancient games today that literally have no legal means of acquisition. Props to GOG for "liberating" these titles.

Slime Rancher updated, hits 300K sales and I asked the developer about their Linux support
4 Aug 2016 at 7:32 pm UTC Likes: 8

Linux sales represent...less than 0.5% overall. So it’s difficult to say if it has been worth the trouble.
Of course, it isn't officially released yet and I am sure I'm not the only Linux user who is waiting for the game to be completed.

There is another IndieDB giveaway, the strange Early Access sandbox game 'CHKN'
4 Aug 2016 at 7:29 pm UTC

I'm basically waiting or CHKN to exit early access in order to buy it. It looks like it's going to be Spore for psychopaths.

The Signal From Tölva is the next game from Sir, You Are Being Hunted developers and Linux is likely

I'm feeling less than lazy today so let's see, they're both:

- flanked by jutting stone cliffs
- low grass with sparse tree distribution
- large rocks embedded in much of the environment
- mysterious alien megastructures

That, coupled with a high tech shootout taking place, conjures up the same atmosphere that Halo had. Although the gameplay looks a lot like Sir, You Are Being Hunted. I look forward to a Linux release.

Linux desktop marketshare has grown for three consecutive months
3 Aug 2016 at 6:44 pm UTC

Quoting: GuestI switched to Linux few months back because of Malware 10 and the shady Microsoft tactics. I've gotten 3 more people to install Linux since and I'm planning to keep doing that. There are quite a few people who ask me for computer advice.
I doubt that I'm the only one doing this.
Yup, I've been responsible for deploying Mint into a few different homes. Doubtful that hobbyists have much sway but with the exception of graphics drivers, distros as polished as Mint are ready for prime time with the average user.

Day of Infamy FPS now available on Linux & SteamOS (updated)

Great to see this join Allied Assault and Tripwire's entries into the WWII genre! I'm guessing you don't need Insurgency installed in order to play?
