Quoting: edddeduckferalAFAIK That only happens if you are running unsupported closed source AMD drivers. If you are running on Nvidia please do get in touch and we can investigate.Yup, I'm the same idiot that submitted a bug report about the issue and I will take your advice once I can move over to the open source driver.

I put this game on hold until a performance patch was released. Lo and behold, a 500+ MB update for Tomb Raider today! Hopefully now big, open levels won't drop below ~25 fps. And hopefully TressFX hair effect doesn't turn into blocky Lego at certain camera angles.

Quoting: LinasEven if it powerful enough to run games, what exactly could you run on it? A few open-source games maybe. Gaming on ARM CPU on Linux is so niche that it's not even quantifiable. A low power i386 CPU would have made this way more useful. There are plenty of made-for-ARM games out there though I'm not sure the difficulty involved or the likelyhood of any of those getting ported to true Linux. I agree with you that an x86 would have been better but it's a shame that gaming in general is so tied to what is essentially the "Microsoft Windows of the hardware world". I wish x86 wasn't so patent encumbered. I am also keeping a very close eye on RISC-V.

Everyone is so focused on the literal planet that we've forgotten to consider the possibility that it could mean God of War.

I understand where you're coming from and why you say that, sure it employs x86 and whatnot, but unless something follows the IBM compatible open PC architecture, it is *not* basically a PC.

Quoting: SnowdrakeWell, the ps4 is basically a PC (and don't forget that ps4's operating system, "Orbis OS", is a modified BSD) so running any modern pc operating system shouldn't be a problem. (I believe, the trickiest part should be installing and getting the boot loader to actually work)\

Quoting: SamsaiThe code is open so just start porting it to Vulkan. :PYou're going to have to start by porting Irrlicht [External Link] to Vulkan.

I follow Minetest development fairly closely and it is frustrating to watch a project that is clearly a Minecraft clone be inhibited by developers who want very badly for it "not to be like Minecraft". So what we're left with is a husk game that has no goals or challenges, and leaves content out in order to appease a group who can never agree on a clear direction for the project. Luckily, they are talented and built a robust Lua API so there are plenty of mods which add things most of us would normally expect from a Minecraft clone. For the uninitiated, Minetest by default does not have mobs, farming/hunger or circuitry(redstone).
But of course, it also has things by default that Minecraft doesn't such as locked chests and much larger world height/depth so don't let me dissuade you from trying it out.

Wasn't there a project in the works that would essentially act as a translation layer for Vulkan API --> Metal API? Back when Vulkan was released I remember somebody talking about this.
