Fedora KDE gets approval to be upgraded to sit alongside Fedora Workstation
8 Nov 2024 at 7:39 pm UTC

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualA member of the Quality Assurance team for instance is concerned about being able to assure the quality of KDE:

For KDE, this would be extra 51 apps! Compare the scope. I believe it's impossible for us to have the same quality bar here. And even if we had a huge surge of volunteers to test those regularly, it would just mean that we'd hardly ever release, because the likelihood of discovering a broken functionality in 73 apps (22+51) is much higher than in 22 apps. Workstation is quite lean on pre-installed apps, and yet we already struggle with this, and many people get irked by the whole compose being blocked on a bug in gnome-clocks/gnome-contacts/gnome-calendar/etc.
Thanks for the quote. I am not a Fedora user -- what do they mean by "apps" here? Other than the core plasma bits (settings, kwallet, etc.) the only "KDE apps" I have installed on my Neon system are Okular, Dolphin, and Gwenview.

Edit: I forgot Kate.

I enjoyed Whispering Willows when I played it a number of years ago. Nothing groundbreaking but a decent little game.

I enjoyed the demo. The reviews make it sound like the later levels are a bit rough. I might wait to see if the dev tunes the game a bit.

Quoting: robvvDamn them! This Metroidvania looks right up my street, and so onto the wishlist it goes. I have neither the time nor the money to play all the games I want, but this one is another that calls to me :-)
Haha. Exactly my thoughts!

Terrorformer TD is a seriously good tower defense game where you shape the battlefield

Why are devs calling tower defense games "roguelite" now? I have seen that on several recent releases. How is it different from more general tower defense?

I don't mind pixel art but the animations seem pretty jerky. I will wait to see what the finished product looks like.

Nice. I just tried the demo and the atmosphere is cool. The music and ambient sound really help fill out the minimalist graphics. Native linux build runs perfectly for me.

It does feel a bit open and empty, but that could be what they are aiming for. I will wait to see what the reviews look like when the full game comes out. I like atmospheric games if they have enough sense of progression.
