0AD has been around for a very long time and I'm not sure if you could call it "one of the most high quality open source games". It was always exceptional in the sense that it had beautiful 3D graphics, usually open source games have a lot of programmers but lack good artists. But 0AD was also always buggy, had incomplete game mechanics and sluggish performance. At least compared to games like MegaGlest, which are actually fun to play.

I would like to see reviews of the newer versions of 0AD by people who actually played the game for a longer time to know if this has changed. I did test it myself in the past and contributed to their crowdfunding campaign but I won't try it again for a while because I was always disappointed when I did and came to the conclusion that they have serious problems with their code base, which will take a longer time and some good programmers to fix.

Quoting: MagamoTo be fair: Wine has been around a LOT longer than DOSBox.
True, but the ability to play DOS games on Linux is older than Wine. Before DOSBox there was DOSEMU, which worked well with a lot of DOS games and other software.

Outlast and Outlast/Whistleblower. I'm usually not a big fan of horror games but I have to admit that these games were well done. They had a really good and well-paced story.

Yes, it looks like a clone of Mad TV. There also exists a German open source remake of Mad TV named TV Tower [External Link]. I haven't played it, so I don't know how good it is and if it has an English translation.

What are you playing this weekend?

SOMA. Not too much of a horror game (which is good because I don't enjoy them if they are too scary) but a great game if you are into science fiction.

American Truck Simulator. I love this game (BTW, it's currently on sale at instant-gaming.com). Unfortunately, it has become a bit crashy for me (also ETS2). I play it on an Intel IGP and recently upgraded from Haswell to Skylake, maybe it's a driver issue.

I also play FTL nearly every other day. I now win about 60 percent of the games on level hard and it is still interesting. Probably the game with the highest replay value I have played so far.

And I play a quick game of SuperTuxKart very often, now that they have fixed most of the issues with their new engine.

The site didn't work for me too. I wanted to pay by credit card and the Proceed to Payment button didn't work. Too bad for them, they just lost a sale.

I don't understand why the original ETS used these pseudo companies with a similar logo and slightly modified name of real companies (like IKEA→IKA, FedEx→PostEd). The logos and names are so similar that they probably violate trademark law anyway. And why didn't they get permissions from the real companies? The companies should be happy or even pay the ETS developers money for the in-game advertisement.

Sure, Microsoft loves Linux. Now that they found a way to milk Linux users on Android and other embedded devices. They simply charge the manufacturers a tax to avoid their legal threats with bogus patents like the FAT patent.

To be fair, he said "we are targeting a release on Steam OS", which sounds more like an intent than a promise. A promise would have been if he had said "we will do a release on Steam OS".
