Canonical hiring a Desktop Gaming Product Manager for Ubuntu Linux

Quoting: mcphailIt'd be worth taking a few moments to digest the Twitter timelines of prominent, recently ex-Canonical employees before considering this position.Shuttleworth has to go? Could you give some obvious evidence how that would help? He has been a solid leader thus far, but as always, no one is right in their decisions all the time. Ubuntu (and Canonical) also have become a more larger ship to sail and steer.
I love Ubuntu, but Shuttleworth has to go.

I for one would have bought likely hundreds of games if GOG would have provided that Galaxy client for Linux (https://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/release_gog_galaxy_20_for_linux)... Now every penny has gone to GabeN and Steam :woot:

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoSo... Is this tool Lutris alike, downloading for Me everything I need for to run a GOG Windows game on Linux? In my understanding yes. I have not tested MiniGalaxy in a long while though. It is coming together with all vitals needed as we can see.

Quoting: SamsaiThe whole Steam debacle seems to indicate that maybe this type of software really should be installed through Flatpak and the like. At least that makes it harder to accidentally uninstall your entire DE and display manager.Yes, everything needed right there and also sandboxed as a bonus. Those who don't like that, can refrain using snaps and flatpaks etc. But we should have to take the UX of a total newbie (and Linus is not such, still borking the system) to account indeed.

Very nice since The Knights of the Old Republic still requires swkotor.ini file tinkering (to set "FullScreen=0" and to add the line "AllowWindowedMode=1" under it).

It sure is heart warming to see this kind of enablement for all kinds of situations and walks of life. I think there might be much more advanced tech in the vaults that could help (and free us!), but we don't know about..
It is not 100% affirmed even today that we come out of the womb in optimal condition; we should be thankful for every day being healthy to start with. To stop pestering each other mentally and physically all down the line on trivial stuff. Tech is here to aid us \o/
By the way for blind and visually challenged, i wonder in what state the likes of Orca is nowadays

Quoting: AussieEeveeHonestly, I expect it to work with everything. Valve has advertised that it works with everything... All my games should run on SteamOS. I can even install other launchers. That's what they told me. So that's what I expect. That's right! One should not promise nor state things one cannot accomplish then. The spreading of "false hope" does no favors to anybody. Maybe Valve will pull the 100% off after all though :woot: (they have the needed resources and the money for it i'd assume) So much already work! This COULD really be IT, the final break through for Linux gaming.
I have had pretty good experiences with Lutris and Valve's Proton over the past couple of years, and my computer is way less powerful than the SteamDeck (That is sad to say :P), so I already know from experience that the majority of games will work fine. The only games I've ever had an issue with were anti-cheat games, and GTAV. And the problem with GTAV is because my computer isn't powerful enough. Heck, it barely runs on Windows.
I did have some issues with Origin too, but I was able to run Blizzard Application and Epic Games Store just fine under Lutris.
What I am expecting from Valve is an easy way to install these other game stores. Yes, they are competitors but Valve promised me that I could.

Quoting: strycoreCool! Where can i send monys?Quoting: CorbenNice! Removes the necessity to have the EGS installed via Lutris then. No, this is a way to integrate with the EGS client itself and does not replace it. You can have a fully native EGS replacement with the Heroic launcher. What Lutris does is allow you to launch individual games from the EGS client.
As Lutris is meant the be the gamelauncher, is it planned to have itch.io integrated as well? Or is that already in and I am blind?
Support for Itch.io is planned for a future release, with Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net and Origin.
