Need some more Lara in your life?
YES and I would love to have Tomb Raider 1 - 4, Legend, Anniversary and Underworld ;)
I would be happy if I can play Anniversary in Linux. My first played Tomb Raider was for SEGA Saturn (I played again two months ago and it works!!!). I would like to replay the same story with better graphics in Linux again. Are the Feral Gods hearing me?
Not the most elegant solution but I remember playing The Anniversary through wine - worked absolutely flawlessly.

Editorial: Valve have not abandoned SteamOS or Linux, things are looking pretty good

Indeed I couldn't understand the sad tone of some comments either - actually I have the impression that things are going pretty well, new games are released on the platform on a daily basis and people seem to have already forgotten that 4-5 years ago we had something like, sorry for the hyperbole, 5 games on linux.
Some games are delayed, some maybe will never make it - that doesn't make linux/steamos an unusable gaming platform.

I agree, somebody can explain how is possible to see a difference between 60fps and 200 fps ?
The problem is you get those 'magic' 60 fps and more on relatively powerful hardware. Those with older/less potent hardware get hardly playable fps unless they play on low/very low settings. I don't think it's best strategy to give free pass to this sort of ports just 'because it's linux'. Bad performing game is a bad performing game regardless of the operating system. And as I said before: why would people even consider linux as a gaming platform if they get barely playable fps at low/medium on the OS, while on Windows they could happily play it on ultra at smooth fps?

On the one hand of course it's playable with 60 fps and more on 970/980, on the other there are a lot of people with much slower hardware - not an easy task to convince them to ditch Windows where they could play the game on ultra/high in favour of linux where they get barely playable fps on low/medium. The performance is somewhat disappointing and there is/should be room for improvement.

Linux & Steam running on the PS4 playing Bastion is impressive

Upcoming? Sony patched this vulnerability a long time ago. This is using old, old software.
In the article there is no mention of how recent or old the system software is and, considering the video is from end of april, one might think it is not very ancient. And not all of us follow every PS4 related news.

Great news, haven't finished the 1st one either but it's one of my all time favourite games ever.
And if they get a great running Vulkan version right from the start it will be Christmas and Easter on the same day.

Is this discussion about Apple/Metal even remotely relevant to anything gaming related? I mean how many people buy Macs for the express purpose of gaming?

AMD Polaris graphics cards are starting to sound pretty amazing

I would really like to give my money to AMD this time around, especially since I'm still having this bitter taste in my mouth and feeling slightly cheated after the 3.5+0.5 GB video memory situation (not to say that 970 is a bad card though). I'll wait and see if AMD can get their drivers and performance competitive - if not then I'm staying in the green camp.
When it comes to CPUs Intel looks less and less appealing to me - the cheapest 8/16 will be 999 dollars, that's too much for me personally. If AMD offers a competitive octacore at a reasonable price then I'm sold.

I have finally found a way to sort out screen tearing on Nvidia with Linux
12 May 2016 at 9:00 pm UTC

On a general note: I think this is one of the more important issues and, to put it slightly hyperbolically, especially newcomers will be very easily put off if you tell them 'to get a tearing-free experience on linux you need to edit xorg.conf' they will go 'huh?' and return to Windows.
There ought to be a checkbox/drop-down menu in system settings or some other easily available place to change the setting one way or the other. Otherwise we're looking at a large number of frustrated people leaving linux or not giving a rat's ass if right from the bat you suggest they edit system files or create scripts to get such seemingly simple things done.
Btw. in Linux Mint KDE switching the compositing off (Alt+Shift+F12) works wonders too.
