AirJet from Frore Systems could be great cooling for a Steam Deck 2

Watching this and the LTT video, I think this would be a quite massive redesign. You can get rid of the heatsink on the processor, but what about the other parts currently connected to the sink? Also, if you just replaced the fan with *more battery*, what about weight distribution?
From LTT specifically, I took that the chassis needs to be optimized to make it actually silent, else these little drummers can introduce a very unpleasant pitch.
Anyway, cool tech and hopefully Valve can make a good deal with them for a successor, be it SteamDeck2 or Pro :)

Settlement-building strategy game Circle of Kerzoven is up on Kickstarter

Quoting: WorMzySounds nice, here's hoping this is one kickstarter that actually delivers. That they are using Godot and already have a Linux build out as a demo is promising.
Luckily, unlike with Unity, it's really hard to make a Linux port with Godot that works bad. You'd need to seriously mess with the buildsystem or filesystem.

NVIDIA driver 535.43.02 Beta for Linux updates Wayland support, new Vulkan extensions

Wonder how much wayland is actually improved. When I tried it here last week, things were flickering, maximized windows were not aligned with the screen borders, strange artifacts happened all the time. Firefox on that setup could introduce epilepsy. It was really really unpleasant. (980TI, 3 monitors, KDE)

As someone who owns Duke Nukem Forever: Balls Of Steel Edition......... I will give this a go for sure......
Gosh, I remember going to a video rental store short after it's release. Put it in my PS3, installed, played and was lost on the intro video. Then the initial boss fight was so irritating, I brought the game back the same day and never itched to try it again :D

Funny to see people actually enjoy it.

Immersion Corporation sues Valve over Steam Deck and Valve Index haptics tech

I was on the brink of turning my university thesis into a business when I found there were several bs patents in the field. None of them was worth more then 20 seconds of brainstorming by a naive person. None featured an implementation. E.g. One patent was 20 pages describing that to simulate molecular genetics experiments in realtime, you need at least 2 variables. Had I read that patent earlier, developing my virtual laboratory would have been so much easier. /s
In the end, I decided, I never wanted to get in touch with this stuff, so I went on to a normal day-to-day job. Really sad. My little project might have really helped during covid.

I really hate bs patents. Software patents are always blocking progress. Engineering patents might be valid, but if a company can market they reserved double-digit numbers of patents in their new hand shaver, something has gone out of control.
I think the real problem started when countries started to show of with number of patents in their domain. There is negative incentive for quality control.

ASUS ROG Ally releases in June priced competitively to the Steam Deck

Quoting: KohlyKohlTouchpads are a must with these devices because they play PC games and are not setup like a console device with controller first support.
For me, playing mostly point and click, something to actually point and click feels vital. For others, this may not so much be the case.
It really depends on what games you play. Just took a sneak peak on IGN review comments and naturally, someone claimed the ROG would play more games because windows. I actually don't think so. Anything not designed around controller input will be extremely uncomfortable or plain unusable and that's a huge chunk. Does it even have gyro?
Well, whatever. Hardware wise, this absolutely has it's strengths and for some people it might actually be the better choice. Not for me.

The biggest negative is that the Ally lacks the Steam Deck’s (and the Switch’s) ability to suspend and resume a game at the touch of a button. This means that any time you want to stop playing for longer than a simple pause, you’ll need to save and quit out of your game entirely, and load up again fresh the next time you want to play. This is, of course, the standard way things go on desktop PCs
Damn, I'll keep my Deck for this alone :/

Really? I kind of always had issues with using my sn30+ on anything Linux. Both on retropie and my desktop, they tended to not reconnect correctly. Finding modes where all buttons would get recognized was also hit and miss for me.
I had the reconnection problem with one cheapo USB BT dongle, but switching to another brand fixed it. There were also a couple of firmware updates that made it less fiddly, but those were mostly for the Switch mode. For maximum compatibility, you'll never want to switch out of XInput mode in any case, unless you need the gyro.

I've been really happy with the SN30 Pro+ and even more so with the Pro 2.
OK, so it was a problem on my end, it seems. I hardly used it anyway and whenever I tried, it was either out of battery or didn't connect or in the wrong mode. Then I had to consult the manual to make it work again and somehow started avoiding it alltogether. Maybe if I had used it more often, I would have found a good workflow, but I feel like bringing out a hammer whenever I think about it :D

Might as well be a strategic partnership...
