Most recently, I've been playing mostly Fallout: New Vegas and Batman Arkham City.
Just about have Arkham City beat but New Vegas was crashing constantly for me in Proton. However, it's now massively more stable after installing New Vegas Script Extender, New Vegas Anti-Crash and 4GB Patcher mods.

If you're playing NV, thay are a must have!

Plus there are a ton of Office alternatives for Linux that claim excellent Office file format support, including commercially supported ones like Only Office and SoftMaker.

Quoting: AciDGetting more games to work is great, and I thank all the contributors to the Wine projet.Businesses aren't likely to rely on software that isn't officially supported by it's vendor. For instance, running Office in Wine isn't supported by Microsoft. Its better to run this sort of software in a Windows virtual machine.
However I think the priorities needs to be redirected.
Instead of supporting all the newest games, Wine should focus on solving every single annoyance that _still_ keeps happening with the old versions of Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013. This should be Wine if not Codeweavers priority in my humble opinion.
If you want to convert enterprises to Linux, MSOffice is unfortunately a must-have, and therefore efforts should be made to make it run 100% flawlessly; ten years and MSO 2010 still has some rough edges that makes it sometimes unusable or very buggy, hence not usable in a professional environment (and MSO 2013 crashes pretty often or just does not work great).
I'm always stumped to see the latest AAA games runs at 120fps while the wildly more used office 2013 still can't do basic stuff without crashing/being unresponsive :(
tl;dr: Instead of improving some new games that will be use by a few number of users, Wine and Codeweavers should focus their effort on supporting apps that are wildly used in the professional world like MS Office, so that more user could switch over to Linux while still being able to continue working with the tools their company chose.

NVIDIA GeForce NOW adds Chromebook support, so you can run it on Linux too

I like to think of GeForce NOW as a tool to play games that currently don't run in Proton / Wine, especially due to Anti-Cheat. Otherwise, use native ports and Wine/Proton whenever you can.
Here is a list of games to consider. There are a few "Native Linux" games that work well and are listed. Those and can be ignored and played bare-metal.
The GFN in Wine on Lutris has also had big improvement in bandwidth utilization and steam sync is fixed.

If anything is missing on the list, please help us get it added.

With GeForce NOW now working in Wine, there is little reason to use Stadia, except for maybe playing PUBG.

I cannot ever see myself buying games off Stadia when those games cannot be installed and played locally. With Google's track record of killing off less successful products, your money spent on Stadia games is likely to be lost at some point. Subscribing and playing the free / included games is fine but again GFN has a much bigger selection of anti-cheat enabled titles, while everything else should be played in Proton / Wine.

Quoting: Avehicle7887IIRC, Wine and Proton "TKG" variants have code reverts to enable Esync & Fsync to work:Quoting: tpauThanks for the link.Quoting: Avehicle7887I hope the Staging release will bring back esync/fsync support, it has been disabled for some time now and I've stuck to Wine 5.8 since some games perform better.According to https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2020-July/169359.html [External Link]
NOTE: Currently the esync patchset has been disabled until it can be
rebased.
I just got home and found out the hard way by digging into the staging patches, the esync definitions file has the "Disabled: true" flag.

Quoting: gustavoyaraujoThe game was purchased on Steam. It just has a dependency on Origin as well and it's the Origin part that is broken.Quoting: Xaero_VincentThere appears to be a nasty new issue (probably introduced by a change in the EA Origin client) that breaks any game on Steam that uses the EA Origin client via Proton or Wine. That's why I avoid to buy games from other stores than Steam.
I hope this gets fixed soon so I can play Mirrors Edge: Catalyst that I just bought.

Wine 5.10 out with more WineD3D Vulkan work and anti-cheat improvements

Quoting: TorqachuNo love for CEG, also from Valve :(At least there are workarounds for this, such as using Windows Steam in Lutris instead of Proton or downloading a patched EXE file for the game that removes the DRM. No such alternatives currently exist for anti-cheat enabled multiplayer games.

Are there any Denovo Anti-Cheat enabled games to test this progress with? Doom External removed it, which is a welcome change.
Denovo devs might be working with Codeweavers and Valve directly to fix Wine/Proton to support their anti-cheat?
EAC support still being worked on by Guy1524 and he just revealed that he's working at Codeweavers too.

On an unrelated note, VMware Workstation has announced experimental support for DirectX 11 that can benefit the many anti-cheat enabled games using D3D11 as EAC and BattlEye are more neutral towards virtual machines compared to Valorant's Vanguard that outright bans it. This type of vGPU tech is more accessible to ordinary machines, without the need for VFIO.

Stadia needs more games that don't work in Wine / Proton.
If you own a gaming computer, Stadia is mostly useless except for games currently borked in Wine/Proton.
While it's nice it has Destiny 2, PUBG, RDR2 it needs more like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Hell Let Loose, Paladins, RUST, etc.
GeForce Now has a lot more of these borked games, which makes it more ideal.
I'd love to see a inexpensive cloud gaming service specifically for Mac and Linux users that only has games known not to run in Wine / Proton and as games become supported, get removed from the service.
