Linux gamers shouldn't need to do this all the time,

Reports: Valve making their own VR HMD and apparently a new VR Half-Life

If their going to continue down this VR path I hope they at least have the commonsense to go large FOV like 150 or more.

VR is still pretty expensive, people must first afford the PC capable of doing VR at decent framerates, most VR enthusiasts consider the 1080ti as a base minimal.. so it could be a very long time before VR picks up.

If PC hardware and LCD tech didn't jump in price over the past couple years then things would be smooth sailing. It's ironic now that CONSOLES are the savior of VR moving forward with PS5, I don't think MS want VR.

Rip Linux Gaming.

MS might love linux but they want %100 of gamers on MS Platform... two very different things. Watch as Linux ports get pulled and a LAME excuse used.

Lutris game manager has another release out adding more spit and polish

Yeah that is a bit of a lutris problem, it should let you blacklist things as to not auto-add them. I still find Lutris adding in my proton installs even after deleting them.

A new Humble Monthly is out and it’s not bad with Cities: Skylines (and DLC) plus MGSV

Yeah I might go for this pack if the skylines had all or most of the DLC, which is extensive.

EA's experimental Halcyon game engine has Vulkan and Linux support
29 Oct 2018 at 2:21 am UTC

Well lets wait and see if EA uses the Linux component of this in the future, but if they want to sell via Origin, it isn't on Linux so that could be a problem, plus they have a long record of ruining games will senseless micro-transactions such as stripping content from main game into DLC micro's.

They should really just focus on making great games then release DLC with WANTED micro's later on. And grinding buffs are NOT wanted in full priced games at all, leave those for MMO/F2P games....

Valve just put out another (smaller) Steam Play beta version

Now if we can get faster cheaper gpu's then things would be looking great for 4k users.

Basically quite a few games when played under Linux or steamplay my fps go from 50-60 in Windows to 30-45 under Linux, only option is to play at 1440p or 1080p.

PC is just getting WAY too expensive for 60fps 4k gaming atm, and its really not obtainable for most games under Linux, even native, sadly. (I have a 1080ti btw!)

Sadly I have been playing most my stuff under windows 10 lately due to this problem. I won't be moving down to a smaller screen due to productivity reasons, and the GPU industry seems to think its ok to charge $2199AUD for 2080TI (Australia, land of baby snatching dingoes), a top end GAMING GPU that's not even a pseudo-workstation card (like the titans)
