Tried to get deliverance running on my 1080ti but cryengine says unsupported gpu, needs DX11 compat ... blah blah whatever.

Shrug

EDIT: well managed to get it to load with audio and HUD but 3d is black, I get the following errors. Probably a minor configuration problem.

Holy molly, kingdom come runs good at 1440 on that 1070. A standing clap for sure, great work DXVK.

Maybe some texture streaming issues for AMD cards, but I dunno how much VRAM is in that last video with the HAWAII thing. AHH Radeon 290 (4GB) quite impressive FPS but yes 4GB VRAM will get you into trouble with KCD.

Quoting: kaimanA bit worried to mess up a working configuration with wine-staging 2.21, though.
Doesn't everyone use a container application like PlayOnLinux or just prefixes?

PS. I have BF3 but its on origin so not sure how well that will work out. Also have taken a break from my Linux install, this might encourage me to get back to it however!

Wednesday Madness, a look at some good Linux games currently on sale

Yes the 390 Nvidia drivers have been a bit of a lemon, lots of annoying issues with them that you trip over. For example WarThunder performance is now BELOW AMD hardware performance, which is amazingly broken because NVIDIA use to get DOUBLE AMD's performance in that game.

Doom (2016) could have been on Linux, id Software made a Linux version sound easy to do

Bethesda won't even allow other companies to port and manage a linux version like Feral, which takes all the trouble out of producing and supporting a port that people have argued is NOT WORTH IT for the profit.. whatever.

AMD has announced 'Radeon-Rays' an open source ray tracing SDK using Vulkan

I'd be keen to see how performance is with AMD's vs NVIDIA or Microsoft's methods. NV is claiming 2-3x performance boost over traditional shader methods, that's seems pretty crazy.

Does AMD's method require new hardware, is NV claims just because Volta has great 16FP precision (up to 125 tflops apparently at fp16).

MS and NVIDIA would be very happy if Vulkan died off, or developers steer away from it. But realistically who wants to forever be locked in to Windows10 and XBOX1 platform? at least who in their right mind would...
