My current little wish-list for Steam Deck upgrades

OLED 1080p VRR
Next Gen APU

It's important to point out the new XR2 Gen 2 chip is slated to have over 2x GPU performance uplift.
It was originally around 1.50Tflop in the Quest-2 (higher in other devices due to inc clock).
So that means there is a good chance the new chip has +3Tflop graphical performance!

Why mention this? well the APU in the Steam Deck is now below this performance level, so I hope AMD has some serious killer APU's coming out next year that can make a next-gen Steam-Deck-2 possible! Time will tell.

Instead of offering a better service for customers they just gonna shut it all down... typical!

That's a very easy thing to fix. Just make it a stick on pad with a click-in solution, I could prototype one myself with my resin printers even.. lol

I don't understand how that kickstand in the image above can mess with the fan.. Unless it was putting pressure on the fan area causing fan spin issues (shouldn't be a issue to begin with!)

You do know you can turn down back-lighting and brightness MUCH MORE on a OLED then you can on a traditional LCD/LED screen right? shrug...

Thinking about burn-in issues...
I have a LG C1 48" OLED for PC use. There is a 42" C2 model now btw, but burn-in hasn't really been a issue at all for me yet, I've only had it for like 6months or so.

I've read of people having theirs for like 2+ years without issue for PC gaming stuff etc... I really do love OLED! Just a shame I gotta use HDMI2.1 which AMD doesn't support under Linux (NVIDIA however has it in open and closed kernel driver... so I dunno how they can do that...)

Been using Gnome43 lately, many extensions don't work or have issues but it seems over time that will be fixed. I do notice that gnome wayland works better then KDE Wayland and gaming is even functional with multi display setup whereas I was getting skipping and other issues under KDE Plasma...

Still not a fan of needing extensions to extend the desktop functionality.

I wonder if someone is going to come up with a OLED screen update for this device. Seems only natural.

Bit of a shame Linux doesn't have AutoHDR or HDR in most places outside of just Video playback.. that probably be neat on a handheld is probably save some battery life!

OLED+VRR+HDR that be the ticket! A option to do 120hz would probably be nice also for SOME games that can run at that. But it eat battery life.

Tried Plasma Wayland yesterday, WHAT A MESS that was. Broken UI and Font everywhere! you want functional non blurry desktop scaling then wayland won't be delivering anytime soon!

I really should make a video showing all the fucked up shit wayland does to my desktop. The new floating panel option for example has shadow render issues.. lol

Wayland still MILES away from being ready, at least on plasma.

Quoting: itscalledrealityGnome would be a worse interface due to it’s forceful restrictions and constant desire to break it’s addons.
Yeah that is my biggest issue with Gnome, look at all those plugins you can use... oh wait they keep breaking because the backend code keeps going through fundamental changes for some reason and plugin makers give up... sigh..

Benefit to Plasma has been ALL THAT is available in some way out of the box if you learn how to customize it all.

In saying that I'm tempted to try out Gnome again. Maybe I'll create a new user account and test it out.
