Valheim lets you deform the ground, and basically everything looks and feels very arcade like.

I still don't understand why this game is so popular, is it the large coop functionality? I also am not a huge fan of the retro fortnite style graphics. (and gameplay in the sense of construction and mining).

I like the name. There are a few of these vehicle physics simulation games abouts these days.
The best one from what I understand is the Spintires one and its siblings because it actually has objectives and gameplay going on (and multiplayer).
Having a sandbox mode editor is all good and well but going that extra step to make a actual fun game and story out of it all is whats needed to really stand out these days.

Google shutting their internal game dev studios, focusing directly on Stadia tech

It's the whole business model that is the problem. They are offering people a opportunity to RENT games at retail prices, plus a monthly subscription on top. PLUS you need good internet and be close to one of their servers...
It's just not very attractive, at least things like NVIDIA's and Shadow streaming services they let you use other stores if you want and have some bonuses sprinkled in, plus titles you buy are not restricted to just cloud gaming and are not simply rented.
Unless there is massive change in how they do their business model, and also have more local server access points, Stadia is going to have a rough time.
In saying that I'd love to see a open-sourced Stadia development model where anyone can try out their Linux based render tech. That might help dev interests allot..
But atm Google are like 'all your base belong to us', oh and please give us money.... yeah, nope.
I challenge people to actually TRY the other options... There are many,.

Quoting: GuestYou can still pay for and play games without the monthly fee, and sometimes there are even sales.None of which is cross-platform, none of which is advertised very well anywhere but on Stadia. Lots of strings attached to that whole package, UNLIKE other steaming platform options!

I was playing around with some GTA5 mods the other day and noticed some use DotNet4.8 script injection, and dotnet48 can't be installed on newer wine versions. The recommendation is to install wine-mono which got rid of errors but also the mods just didn't appear to work also.. shrug.
Wish I could launcher straight into GTA5 for testing, damn launchers are the bane of these games, its a launcher within a launcher within a launcher situation, bloody annoying! (for single player)

Haven't experience much shader caching on my 6800XT, but there are other issues I'm facing with proton game performance. Problems which don't exist on the windows10 AMD driver now (they did in the past).
Might move back to Mesa20.3 from 21-dev, not much else can be done.
