Watch this video of David Airlie (Redhat) talking about Vulkan and other bits

That was a great talk, thank you for sharing.

It's interesting how Valve are attempting to push the open-source drivers and provides insight into their long term plan. It makes sense for for Valve to improve the open-source drivers, as they develop games they can debug/extend the drivers as and when they need and not have to wait for the manufacturer.

We've been playing around with HTML5 video for the homepage - first results are, yep, it saves a lot of bandwidth, but it does make Chrome & FF crash under the sheer amount of videos playing simultaneously. So, more work is needed: either play videos on hover, or something scroll-based that loads them/unloads them on-demand, or something based on MPEG-DASH [External Link] that would be lighter on the browsers.

This thread is full of colorful words so I'll just add this disclaimer: we're a small team [External Link] building a company with no external funding. Usually the answer to the question "why in the world aren't they doing that yet" is "we were busy working on something else". Everything is always planned, there's just so many hours in a day. Thanks for your patience!
Perhaps have the thumbnails static and animate them if the user hovers over it or goes to applications page?

Civ VI Steam forum mods banning users for expressing Linux support

If you would like to see a Linux version of a particular game then state you would like to see a Linux version. Engaging with users who consider it negatively is irrelevant and a waste of time. The people you are attempting to persuade are the developers, not the general user.

Stop falling into the trap of fanboyism [External Link].

Also stop calling people out by their name, it encourages more negative reaction from all parties.

Sounds like they bit off more than the could chew. They promised the world to get the support and are now back-tracking as they realise they don't have the capacity. It's a shame studios can't be more reasonable when promoting their content.
