You guys' comments don't make me want to dip my toes into this game despite it becoming interesting again (haven't purchased yet). Why are the review stats so amazing if it's frustrating? Is it the MMO players that like endgame grinding for specific loot drops? Because that's not me.

This game would not normally get my attention, but the guy knows how to talk and demonstrate his game very well in the video. When someone throws out a big company on their resume, I always take it with a grain of salt. You don't really know if they were your average, dependable, content employee (they are necessary!), or if they were a rockstar. I take it he has good experience with the ecosystem of game development, which is a lot of work beyond being a coder.
So, his development journey is interesting to me. Obviously, very cool and one of us feeling that he develops using Manjaro! And I am excited about people using Godot. I think even if I didn't play this game a whole lot, my kids will.
The first game it reminded me of was Kingdomino, a physical tile game which is quite good.

My kids play SV a LOT (relative to other games). They have been playing the same farm for what's gotta be a couple years now. They recently spent $2M in game money to buy a teleporting device. They don't share money, so it was a huge savings for one player. They've never used any cheats to my knowledge. There is so much content in the game. SV and Minecraft are simply the crown jewels in their young gaming lives.

Quoting: EikeEh, just limit your kids' screen times. Try out the program called timekpr-next. Once you understand the UI quirkiness, the features are very flexible. You can slice and dice as complex or simple of a schedule as you want.Quoting: mamillerStardew valley is the game that almost made me fail school. I was skipping so much classes.I wanted to ask if I should get this for my little ones. I note a no from you, then!
10/10

I know RimWorld has a do-this-now functionality that will override whatever they're doing at the moment. That's easily my favorite one of the bunch.
And that brings me to my main request to Mountaincore: describe to me how it stands apart from RimWorld, because the gameplay activities and even graphics are very similar. Why buy a Ford if you have a Lincoln.

Quoting: scaineI'd love to get into these games, but the AI just does my head in. Rimworld, Prison Architect, Oxygen Not Included, Rise to Ruins, man I've tried a lot of these, and they all have one problem - I'm not a very good god. Every single time, I get to some stage of the gameplay and I need one thing done immediately, or the colony will fail....I agree on Oxygen Not Included, but I must say I had way better experiences in RimWorld and Rise to Ruins. I have 93 hours in RimWorld. ONI only 21 (actually more than I thought). Rise to Ruins is 19 hours, but that was only 1 or 2 villages if memory serves. I also don't know how well itch.io tracks gameplay between multiple devices.
I don't get why AI in these games is so frustrating. But it is, so I kind of gave up on them.

2. Yeah, good point about BG3. BG3 is the only guaranteed full-price game I plan to buy this year. I typically buy games as they get older because 1) I have a backlog of games and 2) they'll be less buggy after they're a year old. But BG3 will be an exception. I imagine BG3's story and quests will have so many forks that we'll feel, hmm, a little welcome stress to check them all out, which will draw us back into the game everyday. Zoria is not at that level, which is why I said it was a bit more relaxed.

Quoting: JarmerI have the demo downloaded but haven't gotten around to it. Have any other lovers of crpg's played it / can comment on it?1. I have played the demo and I did enjoy it. The game is on my wish list now. I recommend it because it doesn't feel terribly hardcore or punishing, but also not too easy. It has almost a comfortable feel to it. Maybe not exciting or thrilling, but a good time.
I just don't know if releasing this game THREE WEEKS after Baldurs Gate 3 comes out is a wise idea. I don't have time in my life for two incredibly complex extremely long crpgs at the same time, and I'm 100% playing bg3 (but lets be honest I would play a game made of a leather shoe if it was made by larian) so ........... oof timing.

Getting past .NET 4.6 should benefit Linux for sure. But I wonder why jump to 7 when it's not an LTS. It will lose support before 6 will.

I've been playing with Kinoite a little bit in a VM as a way to get hands-on with Flatpak. I don't have a solid opinion yet. I will say that trying to get vim and Kate to work is not obvious. Kate doesn't work via the app menu even though it's listed, nor is it or vim in the bash profile path. Those are pretty fundamental programs that I need to use all the time. I think this OS spin is a proof of concept, but it's an interesting one that could get traction, especially on vendor or corporate supported devices.
Quoting: STiATArch.. well, sweet spot there, pacman is probably the best one out there. I stopped using arch based distros due to their bad optional depend choices (if the software needs it for featurs it should not be optional, even if it is an option on compile, but there the paradigm of Arch and I have diffferent opinions). If you are into using virtual machines or live USB sticks to test distros, you should try KaOS [External Link]. They are not a fork of any other distro, however they use pacman for the package management tool! It has a good feel.

Happy to see Lutris still getting love after all these years! I haven't tried Heroic yet, so I rely on Lutris for a handful of games.

Quoting: GroganI've been using it (from git) since they added the ability to use Proton runners from Steam (it finds the Steam runtime now). It doesn't find my custom ones in compatibilitytools.d without a little help though (a symlink in steamapps/commom -> ../../compatibilitytools.d/protondirname) but it works.I am still on the main release, and when I want to launch a game through Lutris with Proton (like Spellforce 3), I use GE Proton. Works great. You just have to make sure you download the one [External Link] that is made to be launched outside of Steam.
