Quoting: 14Glad to see Steam has a demo button. I want to try it out. Only problem is, my friends and I have a fairly stable schedule of playing board games in person, so playing online isn't a large desire for us. I think I would need to add a different circle of players to get some use out of it.
I was always an "in person" man myself, but with Covid we went virtual . . . we'd probably have gone to in person, at a park maybe, for the summer except one of our GMs is married to a doctor and so is being especially careful.
We were on a break for about two months or so where we played regular PC/PS4 games online on our schedule instead of anything in person. We could have used it then. But now we play tabletop in person again.

Why are they making a brand new game that looks like it was for the year 2002?

Quoting: Eike"Allow for more development time to further polish the game, ensuring that it [...] meets the high expectations of fans and beta testers". Sounds like the testers weren't too happy (and sounds a little bit like they'd want to say it's the testers' fault).
I watched one or two live streams when it was either EA or a beta the other week. It seemed pretty good to me, but the streamer did question whether a lot of little things were bugs or not, making me think he must have run across a few certain ones and then became suspicious. You wouldn't want to be in that mindset when playing a game you just purchased. When being a beta tester, sure. So, yeah, my guess is the same as yours -- that the beta/EA feedback revealed more work areas than they forecast.

I must say, though, that watching the game got me quite interested in it! I think I would enjoy it and am likely to buy it when it's "finished."

Thanks for the news. I like to buy the Battle Pass usually, but I'll wait until a solid date is scheduled.

Crusader Kings III is now out, some thoughts on the medieval mayhem

Quoting: Mountain ManI have read a few reviews, and I see nothing to convince me that CK3 is, at this point, a significant or meaningful upgrade from CK2 with its years of polish and expansion packs. Maybe in a few years, CK3 will offer more than what my version of CK2 offers now.
As someone who hasn't played CK2 before, CK3 looks and sounds more appealing. Better graphics (yeah, they make a difference for me) and better learning it sounds like. CK2 is free on Steam, so I have access to it. I also have the Sons of Abraham and Sword of Islam expansions. Can't remember if I purchased those (?) or got them from a bundle. Is CK2 worth the time investment with that setup (if I close my eyes  )?

Quoting: BTREIf you’re still on the fence....
Steam and other store pages say the game has multiplayer. It is not described really. Can anyone explain? The style and depth of the game make me think it would require too much commitment for most circles of friends, or at least mine. When you're talking multiple play sessions to get through one "game," we never finish (looking at you, Stellaris! And Tropico 5 and...). So, I'm curious if there is a multiplayer mode that is like a lite version of the game or something like that. 'Cause if the multiplayer is the full, regular game, then I might as well just ignore that feature and treat it like a single-player game.

Trying to think of a solution instead of giving up, I suppose one could schedule game time on the calendar and make sure everyone could commit 2-3 hours to play, just like a board game night. At the end of the first session, schedule the next. Repeat until you complete a campaign. Heh, when a game requires that much "effort," it's a pretty serious game! Definitely not casual category. :)
