Psyonix are ending support for Rocket League on both Linux and macOS (updated)

I am wrestling with the idea of asking for a refund. Gut reaction is I want to because I can't count on Proton to work. (I do not use the Proton version right now.) On the other hand, I have opted to run the Proton version of Dungeon Defenders because the Linux version is very behind the Windows version and is incompatible with my Windows buddies. Perhaps that's only a conflict on the surface when in reality, Dungeon Defenders was a game I bought like 10 years ago for Windows... so it's not really an exact comparison of principle.

I guess I'm still leaning toward the refund.

I love gaming on Linux in the literal sense, but it's not the reason I run Linux. I knew what I'd have to live with before blowing Windows away years ago. I am prepared for sacrifices like this.

On the brighter side, while crappy news like this stings, gaming on Linux has become easier and easier each year. I have been able to enjoy WAY more games on Linux than I was anticipating!

Paradox to trial a subscription system to help with DLC overload for Europa Universalis IV

As someone who has thought about buying the game many times but hasn't yet, I can only agree that the DLC overload is daunting. I don't want to put that much research into the purchase of a video game. I've been planning on buying the base game and ignoring all non-free DLC. But I know I will always think, "I wonder if there are a couple must-have DLC that majorly changes the whole game I'm missing out on." Thanks to the current Humble Bundle, I will probably just nab the game and bargain DLC there and let that sale package do the choosing for me.

What would be still hard for me to swallow in a subscription model is the feeling that I need to play the game a certain amount of time each month to validate the expense. Perhaps, I would play the game a lot for a couple months and then not that often, so I'd unsubscribe, never to play again, whereas maybe I'd play it a little more if there wasn't a paywall to start it up again.

One could surmise that the possible addition of a subscription model suggests continued development for the old game. It's not a must-be-true, but, you know, it likely is.

The original Half-Life games are now free to play until Half-Life: Alyx launches

I can't remember if I ever played through all of the original Half-Life, but I have completed all the others. They were great. They are old, though, and I would not tell someone 15 years younger than me that they had to play them or they were missing out on life. If we're talking about Dragon Age: Origins, the Mass Effect series, The Witcher 2 and 3, then it'd be a different story. Don't take what I say too far. I would say they are worth playing if you hadn't before. But I wouldn't expect someone to think of me as a better human being because I pointed them to Half-Life.

I'm glad it runs into February so I can accomplish my goal of not purchasing any games in January. :D I made a reminder to buy the bundle before it ends.

If you enjoy Slay the Spire you should try the opt-in Beta for a better experience

I wonder if the same multi-monitor problems happen to KDE Plasma users. Reason I wonder is because I typically do not experience the same multi-monitor problems I see mentioned here. (That goes for all games.) Great to see the fixes though.

Google plan over 120 Stadia games this year, 10 coming to Stadia before other platforms

Quoting: Mountain ManI had forgotten that Stadia was even a thing. Seems like there was lots of hype about it, then it was released, and everybody promptly ignored it. Just doesn't seem like its made much of a splash.
I'd say that's because people don't want to jump in with both feet. Only the Premier edition is available now, which is $129 and comes with 3 months of "Pro" service. If I was me, I'd just want to sign up for one month and try it out using already-owned controller.

I do want to give it a try, but not for over $100. That's too steep to demo something when I already have a good computer, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Quoting: razing32Does the counter go down when you are not playing ?
"...you don't even need to play it to get to the ending" seems to imply that it does, and you can just play once then come back a little over a year later and you'll have won.
Better question then.
Is there a way to loose ??
He said that you can get to the end without playing. I wouldn't assume that would equal a victory. /shrug

What a weird game though. I like to think of myself as a patient person who enjoys complex stories and long novels... but that doesn't mean I want to stare at nothing happening. It seems sort of curious though.
