I might get it, too. I think the kids would like it. I kinda want to try it myself as well.

Dota Underlords looks like it will leave Early Access in February, big update coming

I'm quite interested to try it, but I didn't want to live through all the big changes. I'll finally give it a go once it's out of Early Access.

My top 5 Linux games released in 2019, those that truly won me over

Total War: Three Kingdoms didn't make anyone's list?

It would be cool to see a list of all decent Linux games released in 2019. Other sites like Gamespot/Giantbomb are very unreliable when trying to find Linux games. Co-optimus.com does well at it (by my request :)) but they have their own niche.

Frictional Games (SOMA, Amnesia) begin teasing something new

Quoting: EikeI'll keep saying how incredible SOMA was, and that I recommend it even for people who are not into horror games (it's got some "safe mode") until I'm banned from this site or burried.

;)
I did not know there was a safe mode. Now, I'm curious. I'll look into this with SOMA. I do not like horror or creepy games.

Quoting: hammahUnrelated to the conversation at hand, but I stumbled over the word “titbit” in the first sentence. Personally I hadn’t seen it written like this before, but only as “tidbit” i.e. with a “d” instead of a “t”. Believe it or not this was the reason for creating an account with GOL.

In any case if anyone is interested, apparently both forms exist, but according to Merriam-Webster, the notation with a “t” is less common:

Thus ends my first contribution to this fabulous site...:D
What you did here reminds me of myself. Are you in IT? :)

I'm going to use the titbit version in front of my wife all the time now.

Quoting: PangaeaWindows IS still going in the wrong direction. Long may it continue.
But why tho?
What is the reason we "hate" Windows? Is it just because, or is it because it's going in a wrong direction?

Wouldn't it be better for everyone if it just started to go in a good direction instead?
Of course this is not likely to happen, but it's a valid question.

I for one wouldn't care for Linux growth if Windows would be a decent, non-spyware OS. Tho that doesn't mean I'd switch, far from it.
Spyware was a big part of it, but also a lot of choice was taken away in Windows. Windows tried to follow Mac's ease-of-use designs which ended up taking away several configuration choices. I like to say that the idea of running Windows didn't feel like it would be my computer anymore. Running Linux very much makes it feel like my computer again.

FWIW, I suspect Microsoft handles private data better than companies like Google and Facebook. I'm not sure so they'd go to bat against the government like Apple has though, especially since they've had a long history of government contracts.

Looks like EA might be banning Linux gamers using Wine to play Battlefield V
3 Jan 2020 at 2:43 pm UTC Likes: 1

And here I almost bought Battlefield V last year since I saw several videos of Linux gamers playing it and I used to love the Battlefield games. But I couldn't get myself to buy a Windows game. I'm glad (sadly) that I held off. (I do play Overwatch because it came in a bundle.) Actually, I can't think of the last time I bought an EA game. Anthem and Andromeda were the last ones I was interested in and they were both flops, so I didn't buy them either.

You can now easily control the AMD Wraith Prism RGB colouring on Linux with CM-RGB

Quoting: rcritNow I need to figure out what I did with that micro cable to connect the CPU to USB. My thoughts at the time of install were "I have no way to control the lights so why would I use these things..."
You should be able to control the lights in the BIOS. I can at least.

This is great! While I can mostly control the lights in the BIOS, I can't change the ring how I'd like.

The remaster of turn-based RPG 'Stoneshard: Prologue' is now available on Linux
2 Jan 2020 at 8:05 pm UTC

I gotta give this a fair try. Inspired by Diablo yet turn-based...? Might be good enough to play solo then. I personally don't really care for playing Diablo-like games by myself.

If I ever finish the Divinity games with my friends, this will be next! (Or, perhaps Last Epoch.)
