Linux game sales statistics from multiple developers, part 5

I play on Linux because its about showing support for more platforms. Even if gaming on Linux goes against what made it great to begin with: free software. Installing non-free drivers, non-free software, and software with DRM conflicts with that.

Since you can get Windows 10 Home for like $7 on a grey market key site, I don't see the price advantage of running Linux just for games. Not to mention needing non-free components through the non-free Steam platform to play non-free games that lack source code.

If you muddle up your Linux install with that, it makes it no different than Windows.

Quoting: TuxeeGot it from the Humble Store. Never played it in the old days - really looking forward to do so now.
Very tempting to get it via Humble store - You get the Steam key and the DRM-free version too.
I bought it off of Humble Bundle today as well since it was the cheapest store and I had some Humble Bundle wallet credit. Having a Steam key and a direct link to a DRM free tar.gz file helps too.

You rock! One day when I was mowing the lawn, I had the interview you did with Boiling Steam playing on my phone (headphones of course) and bought the Linux version of Day of the Tentacle soon after.

It was my first time playing the game and you did an amazing job.

I hope you eventually assist in bringing over more games like the Secret of Monkey Island remasters.

Quoting: ProfessorKaos64Sweet, now I can finally push out a SteamOS package.
I know this may sound crazy to some of you, but would you also consider a Snap package for Ubuntu 14.04 and above? Would a game like this work in a sandboxed environment?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is moving to Source 2

This is great as performance will be on par with Windows as Source 2 was built with Linux in mind. No more DirectX to OpenGL conversion.

Oh and Vulkan!!!

Ballistic Overkill is one Unity title that may see an update with Vulkan

Quoting: Vuko2000I need some awesome FPS shooter on Linux. It could be awesome if they give some DRM Free version like a GoG.
I'd love if Ballistic Overkill was on GOG too.

Quoting: M@yeulCThat's great news, I'm really excited! Good work Feral, as always!

Now, I just need to buy a Vulkan-capable card... :D
What do you have now? A $100 AMD RX 460 or Nvidia GTX 1050 can run Vulkan. Heck, even older cards: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulkan_(API)#Compatibility [External Link]

Dota 2 patched for AMD Ryzen

Since this is Source 2 related, it would be nice to see Counter-Strike GO get the Source 2/Vulkan/threading updates too as the Linux port would benefit due to the high fps nature of the game.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive updated with a new map and updated terrorist model

Quoting: BlodofferBefore this update enabling HRTF would max out one CPU core. This has been fixed even though it wasn't mentoined in the changelog. Github [External Link]
I had that issue too and it would overload my CPU and cause my system to crash. When I brought it up, people would basically tell me to update my computer to fix it.

Btw, Valve did mention it in their changelog: http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2017/03/18198/ [External Link]
