Canonical planning an immutable desktop version of Ubuntu

As long as you can use your HOME directory without issue and can install local apps and Bash configs, I wouldn't mind an immutable distro protecting the directories that are not /home

That’s an interesting take as Firefox in Flatpak or Snap is supposed to add another layer of sandboxing security.

Seems the big Chinese surge on Steam is over - Steam Survey for April 2023

I haven’t gotten a Steam survey in over 2 years. Maybe Valve should use the actual login and playtime data vs some random survey.

I say this because every month these stats come out and gaming sites use them as gospel in the state of Linux gaming.

The Last of Us now Unsupported on Steam Deck, bad look for Valve and Naughty Dog

This is why you don’t buy a game within the first month of release. The average gamer will buy it anyway because they are caught in the hype.

Glad they FINALLY fixed the issue with Deus Ex. I beat the game before and it was annoying to kill the task or force close in desktop Steam and the Deck.

Yes, after flashing the beta firmware update it works in dinput/switch mode. That being said I'm still returning mine. The 2.4Ghz is nice but I cannot deal with the plastic on plastic joystick grinding I experienced on the ultimate in less than a week of use. The gulikit king kong 2 pro also has hall effect sensors AND has a metal ring around the joysticks and after using it I can't go back.
Hmm? Plastic on Plastic is almost every major controller out there though, I’ve never seen it as a problem?
Btw are you in conversation with Valve or know exactly where they are handling the Xbox controllers (xpad, udev, etc) in SteamOS? If so, are they going to upstream their changes to the Linux kernel for xpad or anything related?

I ask because I got the Ultimate 2.4gz controller today and noticed some issues where it may conflict with the 8Bitdo USB adapters. I also contacted 8bitDo support with the feedback: https://github.com/paroj/xpad/issues/228 [External Link]

System76 give everything you need with the Launch Heavy keyboard

I bought the original Launch a year ago with Royal switches and have enjoyed it. Using daily for engineering job and loving the split space.

It’s expensive but I’m supporting a local US based company that open sources the hardware and software. It’s for the long run as I can easily swap out keys and switches.

Works well with the Jade for typing and Silent Pink for gaming.

Another reason to license as MPL 2.0 for libraries. Library is copyleft but is self isolated and can be used in FLOSS and proprietary software.
