Heroic Games Launcher 1.8.0 'Arlong' is out now and goes multi-platform

Quoting: 14The only reason I don't have the Heroic Launcher is because it's another store to manage. It's great for Linux gamers to be at the same point that Windows gamers have been at, where you have game launcher overload. I'd say it's the main reason I don't have any games installed from the Epic store even though they release free games that you can get working with Wine / Proton. It's like I'm at capacity for this kind of stuff: Steam native, Proton, Lutris, Battle.net, Origin, minigalaxy, itch.io... I'm happy that the Heroic Launcher is available for those that want to use it. :)
I have a lot of games in GOG and have used GameHub and Lutris in the past to run non Linux games. GameHub doesn't really get a lot of updates and Lutis runs like garbage when trying to use GOG Galaxy. If the Heroic Launcher adds GOG support and acts like a GOG Galaxy for Linux by combining multiple stores and the option to use Proton with them, I'm all for it.

I don't have Wine installed, but I have Steam with the latest Proton and Proton-GE, for which Heroic finds. Am I supposed to also have Wine installed or can I just use Proton directly?

Portal Stories: Mel lands Vulkan support with DXVK in the latest stable update

Quoting: TheRiddickStill waiting for Black Mesa to come with vulkan support because its OGL support for the Linux version is sketchy at best (and missing features). I know its a different dev, but their using same engine!
I saw a video a little while back where running the Windows version of Black Mesa ran better with DXVK than native. Is this still the case? I belive this was the launch option too:

Google, Bungie, id Software all under fire in a new Stadia lawsuit

I can’t wait for Stadia to die out since it’s one big circle jerk here. I get it... Stadia runs Linux but it’s closed off. Kinda like claiming macOS is BSD when it’s their heavily forked version of it. I’ll stick with my local Linux for now.

Google shutting their internal game dev studios, focusing directly on Stadia tech

I don’t understand the reasoning to talk about Stadia on this site. Yes, I know that it’s running on a version of Linux, but those enhancements aren’t going upstream and it won’t encourage game developers to use the Stadia code in porting to Linux.

If they are getting into licensing, that means the licensing of proprietary code for which google already took open code and closed it down. Also, you are losing ownership of your game to play an interactive video on their closed source hardware and Chrome browser.

Sony to officially support the PS5 DualSense on Linux with a new driver

I'd love to have this free/libre under a BSD, MIT, or GPL license and in the mainline Linux kernel.

Linux game manager Lutris gets a 0.5.8 Release Candidate

I've had mixed feelings with Lutris in the past as I've only used it to try to run GOG Galaxy. It will allow me to download games, but there are issues in cloud sync with the saves. I also don't have the control in setting Proton options per game and the interface is sluggish.

I'm only interested in GOG Galaxy for the cloud saves and achievements, but it is in no way as intuitive as Steam with Proton with achievements and cloud sync. If I just want to play the game, I might as well just use GameHub and miss out on the achievements and cloud sync.

On Windows, I remember the games performing better in DirectX 11 compared to 12. Silly question, but is that the case with Linux as well?
