I wouldn't argue, if Windows users were affected too. But it is not the case...

Linux users who depend on proton, MUST remember, that at any time their fav game can be broken for any reason.(unless dev specifically supports proton, which I don't know how many such devs are out there)

This is exactly what people were criticizing Proton before it even became a thing.
And its not first nor last game this will happen with.
B4B is another example from my personal library.

If yes, do you need to enable a variable or something?
Well you need a patched kernel so its a pain to get working. I got it working by using Nobara 37, and their own gamescope-session, but its pretty buggy and HDR does not work with every game. And being used to Holoiso, Nobara is so slow.
I was able to run patched MPV in console and have 'HDR' enabled on my monitor.(I am gentoo nerd)
I suspect I have what it takes for HDR?
Is gamescope a requirement? I thought that Proton is all needed?
Can i see links you used?

Quoting: Cmdr_IrasInteresting project; though I have of course just swapped my Nvidia GTX1070 for a AMD RX 6700XT.
Lol, 3 years ago i swapped, gtx780 for 5700xt. Its very competent card for 1080P, and i manage to play tonnes of titles either with full settings or FSR enabled on 1440P. But I am thinking to upgrade for something else :D After article I was thinking about Nvidia again, though performance from looks of it sucks.

Quoting: CatKillerHaving Steam not die when you're using anything other than 8—bit colour would probably be a good start.
Its probably a limitation of your DE/Chromium on Linux, which is used as basis for Steam Client.

My post may have happened BEFORE you made an update or WHILE you were making it. or I did read earlier version of article, wanted to respond, let it be for some time and THEN submitted my comment.

The bug is NOT in Death Stranding.
Bug is in driver/hardware of Steamdeck. Dev was just nice enough to address it in game's code.
Bug should be submitted with valve/GPU/Driver maker.
