Steam Beta lets you create a collection filtered by games you and friends own

If you create a category that matches only tag "Survival", another that matches only tag "stealth", and finally one that only matches tag "RTS", you game list will look like this:
:grin:

Quoting: AnzaYeah.. just tried it, it's still a thing :grin:Quoting: BlackBloodRumI tried collections with using genre tags a while ago. It was cool up until the point a game had two matching tags. Then it'll duplicate that game in your list and you have to manually remove one of the games from one of the new "automatic" collections.That's interesting. I haven't noticed that though and I have collection that matches three tags: adventure, point & click and story rich. Either the problem has been fixed or the problem might be bit more complicated than that.
That got annoying fast.
So back to manually organizing by genre with no duplicates it was :tongue:

Well.. unless you happen to have a disagreement.. then it can get nasty fast, in a full on "My distro is better than your distro" argument. :huh:
But aside from that, I'm sure there's people here who'll be your friend! :grin:

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderThe only problem is that you need to have friends for this to work........The tux community is the most friendly community around! :grin:

Steam Mobile App continues adding new features to the Beta

Steam app? Nope.
KeePassXC however is a desktop app, so it's on flathub[1] and available by default on most distros in their repositories and open source[2].
However, if you're looking for an android way to access that database there's always KeePassDX, which is available on Android via F-Droid[3] and open source[4]
Personally I use the KeePassXC app for my TOTP because I don't want to walk to go get my phone every time I need to login to something, it's database is secured with a keyfile, password and my yubikey so it's good enough :tongue:

Steam Mobile App continues adding new features to the Beta

It sounds like it will hopefully continue to work, KeePassXC is a great offline FOSS privacy-friendly password manager that has served me well for many years :grin:

Quoting: pbFair enough :grin:Quoting: BlackBloodRumQuick question about the new app, did valve change the 2FA at all? or is it the same?In the new app you can switch SteamGuard between the QR code (which is default) and the "old" 5-char code. No idea about that KeepAss, though.
What I mean is, can codes using the old key, still be generated using third party apps? or did they change the keys/code method?

Has anyone tried it?
I've been avoiding attempting to use this app through fear of losing my KeePassXC compatibility :tongue:

Steam Deck Client Beta adds an improved Media page, Virtual Menu Overhaul
16 Sep 2022 at 1:49 pm UTC
Sadly my current favourite media player, Strawberry, didn't fit the deck so well once in "game mode" (used as a launcher). However, I found the best one fit for launching from the decks "game mode" was Elisa[2] it's pretty lightweight and can be used easily from game mode. It was a good solution for simply playing music.
Otherwise of course you can use any other music player via desktop mode if you prefer! :grin:
[1] Or at least, I haven't found it? Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to know where it is!

Quoting: jordicomaCan "Media page" play music or videos? I think that it cannot do it.Actually, a music player doesn't seem to be built into the deck[1].
The desktop steam has a music player to listen the game music of some games that can be bought.

Distrobox can open up the Steam Deck to a whole new world

The good news is the deck won't ask you for that password unless you're doing something in terminal, ssh etc.
Oh, and if you add / edit any files in /etc, those changes will persist across steam deck updates.
Anyway, regarding input, yeah in its default state trying to do anything via keyboard is a pain in a certain area south from your head[1]
But there's good news! You can reconfigure the controller layout from steam preferences in desktop mode, which means you can quickly add other keys.
Personally I set it as follows, and found the whole thing much easier to use:
R2 = Enter key press
DPad = U / D / R / L Arrow keys
A Button = Left click
B Button = Right click
X Button = C keyboard key
Y Button = V keyboard key
L1 = Control key
R1 = Y keyboard key
Right side joystick = Mouse movement
I much prefer this way because it means I don't have to touch the screen and leave fingerprints all over it 😂
Naturally your preference will differ, but it's just my 2c 🫡
Enjoy your deck 😃

Quoting: fabertawe"install-podman" wouldn't work until I'd set a password for user "deck". Also, trying to use the on screen keyboard is a total pain, especially with no CTRL and arrow keys.You'd have had to set a password for the deck user to configure ssh access anyway, so no worries!
So... attach a proper keyboard until I've set up SSH access. Looks promising though. I'm also going to create an encrypted dir with EncFS for my (Pale Moon) browser profile, etc.
