Steam Autumn Sale 2023 is live with huge savings
22 November 2023 at 11:39 am UTC

From wishlist, only It takes two had over 50% discount (my rule to purchase something I had not intended to that month or a full price) so just got it. Perhaps next month there are a few more.

I also tend to clean my wishlist of items to keep it not bigger than 30 to reduce fomo, over spending and stress if I can't finish a game in good time (looking at you, Baldur's Gate 3)

SteamOS 3.5.5 rolls out to all Steam Deck owners, plus new Steam Client update

Quoting: ArehandoroAfter this update + hotfix 11, not sure which one broke it, BG3 doesn't work any more :(
Proton Hotfix was just updated to fix that.

Was it updated only for the Deck? I can launch the game there but not on my desktop.

EDIT: There is a workaround, from Larian, that fixes it by selecting the beta release_patch4_hf1 or bleeding edge, whichever appears for you.

Valve reveals Steam Deck OLED for November 16th

Quoting: mattaraxiaI really don't get this reasoning, essentially being mad someone gets something newer.

That's not what I said. At all. But to make it clearer; I'm not mad in any way, and much less because someone can get something newer.

I only said that I was unhappy for the lack of opportunity to swap the old components for the new ones. That might be OK in the console world, but not in the PC industry.

I'm happy for those that can/want to afford the revision.

Valve reveals Steam Deck OLED for November 16th

Can the original Steam be upgraded with this new OLED? Can the new battery be installed on the original?

If the answer to both is no, even if by sending to Valve in case they don’t provide the parts to other vendors, I’m rather unhappy with this. Too early for a revision.

Edit: I just saw the HDR screen doesn’t fit in the old one.

Baldur's Gate 3 patch 4 brings AMD FSR 2.2, looking better on Steam Deck
3 November 2023 at 8:46 am UTC

I could only try a bit this morning with the patch, and there was another one of 15MB after Patch 4 install last night. Visuals are much better now, and without bringing the FPS counter up yet, the game feels slightly smoother.

Nice! I can only play on the Deck for a few days, and this is going to help me a lot! Will download it right away.

In the Steam Languages graph, shouldn't Spanish include all the variants and not just the one from Spain? I think it would show a more relevant information regarding the overall usage.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWell, Israel has universal conscription--everyone serves (well, except the ultra-orthodox).

Universal conscription is another of the reasons in which the state uses its brainwashing and propaganda. In any case, universal conscription could also be circumvented by being a conscientious objector (not sure if this is the actual term in English). There are ways to avoid serving.

Actually, I would even argue countries that still have it, that are many, should not be considered democracies.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThe United States, on the other hand, gave up on conscription after the prospective conscriptees got really upset and caused political problems back in the Vietnam era, and are now finding they don't have enough volunteers to really fill the numbers they want. So it seems most there are, indeed, deciding not to join the army at all.

Which is something the US is already trying to "fix"

Quoting: tuubiWell, we've not seen this exact situation before WWII either. And none of this equals "closer than ever to world war", no matter how dire it all seems.

That's a fair point.
