After Shenmue 3 I have decided to not back more Kickstarter projects -at least for the time being- but I wish them luck. If they eventually release it for Linux I'll be happy to give it a go as it looks quite good.

Quoting: LinasI’m actually surprised Valve have not mentioned at all Debian on their last post. I always considered, and still do, Debian the most appropriate distro. Although newer Mesa/Kernels, in an apt repo, would be ideal for sid to have the perfect combination whilst gaming.Quoting: SalvatosDebian Testing is also a good choice. It's basically the same system under the hood, so it's not even that much of a change. And Debian Testing is a rolling distribution with packages that are fairly up-to-date. And if you need bleeding edge, there is Debian Unstable. And even Experimental if you are really adventurous. :)Quoting: Mountain ManAt this point, what is the best Ubuntu alternative?Depends on what you're after. I left Ubuntu after they forced too many UI decisions I didn't like, so Mint was a natural choice for me. Similar look and feel to good old Ubuntu + Gnome.
The biggest difference is that Debian is much less opinionated than Ubuntu, Mint, and other derivatives. They don't have the Debian desktop experience, but rather ship upstream packages. So you get vanilla GNOME, vanilla KDE, etc. with minimal branding from Debian.

I have an i5 with 16GB in use for all my main projects, that originally started on a rpi 2 that eventually died. The new updates sound great, though and might be the time to get a new one and tinker a bit more even.

Didn't have a clue about this game, or the short movie, but also subscribed and all my attention to it! Thanks to the developers for being friendly and keen to bring the game to Linux!

Vulkan, however, might be a better indicative for our interests.

Quoting: liamdaweThe thing to remember about Stadia is that games do have to run on Linux. It's literally Debian under the hood. However, most AAA titles have high levels of abstraction for APIs, since they often run on Windows, PS4, Xbox, Switch and some on Mac, so getting it on Linux with Vulkan for bigger studios isn't going to be a lot of trouble.PlayStation OSes run on a variant of BSD and that didn't bring us more games from their platform. My opinion is that Stadia running on Debian is more a fun fact that an actual game changer or factor to take into account.

Commandos 2 HD Remaster announced, Kalypso Media bringing it to Linux

I never played much of Commandos 2, my PC was crap when the game released, until years later but also my friends talked less about it than with the first one.
Seems weird to me that if they are making a remaster they jump to Commandos 2 straightaway, unless being possibly easier to remaster a 3D engine rather than the original one.
Edit: Wording.

Quoting: fleskActually I remember being the other way around. We had lots of news back then, I'm from Spain, telling how good the game was, how well it was selling in Europe, the controversy around it in Germany and stuff like that.Quoting: ArehandoroHold on... what about the first game? Is that also being remastered? As far as I recall, the first game was never much of a hit, and the sequel can easily be played as a stand-alone game.
In any case, happy for this announcement and will get it for sure!

Shit, I'm hyped! Those prices and potential performance has definitely left a mark on me. Will see if i nthe UK prices aren't too inflated and maybe I can upgrade the GPU. Although with the amount of crazy games released on 2020, I'm looking at Keanu Reeves and FF7 here, not sure if it's better wait for that and get something better or with a better price down the line.
Happy to see AMD still embracing open-source and that they are doing well, hopefully sales go along too.

They could at least have removed the "Press enter to start" from the video xD
I like the setting, the aesthetics and the genre. Happy to have keep an eye on the Kickstarter campaign or the development in general.
Edit: After seeing the website, I'm not that sure anymore. The wording, and overall website, seems very amateur, they are influenced by "Witcher" for instance, the art doesn't look so manga/anime like either, etc. Hopefully it's just the first steps in development and things do get much better.
