Love the fact Feral is still supporting their games after release. I have the game already but won't be playing it till I upgrade my GPU. But this is nice to see. With Vulkan ports coming this year I can't wait to see what games they bring to Linux.

The article on phoronix says Timothy who introduced a bunch of patches to enable shader cache is going to start work on the radeonsi cache next week. I'm just glad to see somebody tackle it. Been needed for some time now.
Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming

I did try XFce for a while on a lower powered machine and that ran very well, I've not spent enough time in KDE to comment on that.

Quoting: omer666As a GNOME 3 user I can tell you that Arch adopts their updates a little bit soon, and the DE generally becomes stable only when it gets released with Fedora... that's a problem I was tired of.I'm sure Fedora is going to be the best distro for Gnome, but I can't think of any significant problems I've had on Antergos/Arch in the last 2 years. Stability issues, zero. Maybe they were more common when Gnome3 was in it's infancy, idk. Their was some minor niggles with the Wayland version of Gnome when it first started appearing on Arch, but I've been using it more and more and it's ready for day to day usage. (although I would prefer to see more native apps)
On another hand, on Fedora there's the automatic bug reporting tool, and I still report more accurately when needed, but not quite as often as with Arch.

Quoting: fabertawe"You will experience problems occasionally but I'd call these niggles and I've never had one I couldn't solve quickly just by checking the forums or Wiki. Call me perverse but I actually like problem solving any issues anyway!"Haha, that describes me too.. I do run into issues occasionally when I'm upgrading packages, but it just forces me to do a little reading and applying work arounds. Normally 5-10 min distraction and everything is back up and running.

I started out with Ubuntu, but found many stability problems over the years, especially on big updates. I then switched to Debian when I went full time Linux. Super stable, but it's much harder to get the packages you want. I had been reading good things about Arch, so I tried Manjaro as an easy way to enter the world. Installation was a breeze but after a few months of tweaking I managed to destroy my installation (probably my own fault).
I wanted to build my own Arch system from scratch, but I found I didn't have the patience or time or experience to do it myself at that point. So I tried Antergos, and it's been fantastic... Easy to install and maintain, I use lordheavy's mesa-git repo to get the very latest drivers with gallium-nine enabled and it's been awesome to see the improvements over the last 2 years.
Lastly, I just switched to Gnome+Wayland as default for about a week now. The main thing blocking me from using Wayland was Kodi's buggyness through xwayland (I would get stuttering and flickering). I now use Max Kellermann's fork of Kodi with Wayland support [External Link], it's not perfect.. But there is no stuttering. Unfortunately this isn't on AUR yet, but if I ever get time to do some tinkering I may add it myself.
So, welcome to Antergos.. It's great =).

I prefer not to buy Windows games if possible, but I love my Blizzard games and I really wanted to play Doom since it was the first PC game I ever played in the 90s...
The Vulkan performance is very exciting... Hopefully an indication of the future of Linux gaming.

Doom 2016. The upcoming Prey game and Half-life 3... Any of these would be instant buy.
The developers of 'Darksiders' comment on the Linux version, they couldn't fix the issues

I'm not sure how I got this game, if it was part of a bundle or if I just bought it on sale, but it plays pretty well using gallium-nine. I didn't go back to it however, as I was having trouble getting it to recognise my old gamepad. I haven't tried it since I got the steampad, so I really should try loading it up again...
I do hope they can fix the issues and bring it natively, sounds like they did most of the work. Sad to let it got to waste.

Just a heads up 'Firewatch' is currently rather broken on Linux

I picked the game up recently on sale. I probably won't be playing it for a few weeks tho. I hope they have it fixed by then.
The Linux port of space action game 'EVERSPACE' is sounding a bit iffy now

So in reality, they've fixed a lot of the problems, but it's still not in a releasable state, but they do plan to release a version for Linux at some point. Much patience is needed as always when it comes to Linux ports.

Maybe my English was a bit confusing. With "many of these issues could be solved" what I was trying to say was "we were able to solve many of these issues". The mouse cursor thing for example, but thanks for the "unclutter" tip.
