I was thinking about honesty and bluntness. You are honest about something, right? You can be honest about your good feelings towards Linux and the Linux community and you can be honest about your bad feelings about Linux and the Linux community. Both are honest.

So I guess Garry Newman being blunt and honest and him hating Linux are not mutually exclusive.

Whitewolfe80, is it okay for Garry to act basically like he is accusing the Linux community of doing?

Is it confirmed that new purchasers actually get the Linux files?

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI don't know anything about this Garry guy, I don't have anything against him, and I don't mind his comments about Linux. I'm willing to accept the idea that he's blunt, outspoken, sarcastic, enjoys stirring up controversy and whatnot (which, OK, if he was operating in my social milieu would probably be taken as "he's a jerk", but I can deal with the concept that social environments differ). All fine.

What strikes me as weird is him then saying stuff like
Also Linux Community - being abusive, demanding, rude to the few developers actually shipping games to your favourite OS isn't the way to go. It makes me regret ever shipping Linux versions.

Hang on, mate, isn't that just the Linux community being blunt, outspoken and sarcastic, maybe a little controversial? Suddenly if it's someone else being a bit forthright, that's not OK and he gets to be what he would no doubt call a snowflake? If you're going to be insisting others have a thick skin, you should maybe cultivate one of your own. Contrariwise, if someone's going to insist that everyone be sweet and nice and polite to them, then perhaps they should put a rein on their blunt outspoken sarcasm. One set of rules, friend. To put it the old fashioned way, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
You make a really good point. One is tempted to use the word "hypocritical" about his statement.

Is Garry one to complain about about other people's tone? Is he always polite, sober, down to earth in his communications?

It is ever possible to infer that a person hates something or someone without an explicit statement saying so? Just based on their actions and words? I am just wondering.

I tried searching there actually because I seemed to remember some chart or something. But I couldn't find it.

I saw this on Wikipedia:

"Wine implementation
The Wine project has working implementations of the Direct3D 8, 9 and 10 APIs (they are, as of 20 May 2014, 100%, 78% and 82% complete respectively).[139] Wine's implementation can also be run on Windows under certain conditions.[140] Work on implementing Direct3D 10 began in Wine 1.1.7, using OpenGL via WGL."

Does anyone have newer numbers and numbers for DX11 and DX12?

Minecraft 'Update Aquatic' is a huge update which brings the new launcher officially to Linux

As I understand it Minecraft was originally written in Java. But then they made a version in C++ for Android/iOS. It was called Pocket Edition. Later that version was ported to a bunch of different platforms and called "Bedrock Edition". But then they made an update so that the various platforms with Bedrock Editions could play together, they called it the "Better Together" update. This lead them to drop the "Bedrock Edition" moniker and now they just call it "Minecraft". Since it was one unified version across a bunch of different platforms. The PS4 version cannot play together with the others but AFAIK that is because of Sony, NOT Microsoft. This whole thing leads me to a question, has Minecraft EVER officially supported Linux or was it just the case that being written in Java meant that it happened to work under Linux?

Quoting: GuestInteresting, i may reinstall it to play SC2 after the xubuntu 18.04.1 rollout and a little while to let things settle out.

I must say i am impressed (and a little bit worried) by people like you who work on Week Ends. I hope you do not end up hurting yourselves. :)
SC2 = Starcraft 2? I am curious about that game. I was under the impression that both it and Diablo 3 had constant online DRM, but some of the posters here seem to suggest that is not the case with Starcraft 2?: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/939643-starcraft-ii-wings-of-liberty/answers/182452-can-you-play-the-game-if-you-do-not-have-an-internet-connection [External Link]

I am wondering what is actually the case. There is a huge difference between a one time online authentication and costant online DRM.
