Cities Skylines, A City Builder Announced From Paradox & It's Coming To Linux
16 Aug 2014 at 3:47 pm UTC

Quoting: Segata SanshiroHaving a decent city builder on Linux is essential. The only other decent city builder out there (SimCity is no longer considered by anyone with a brain or dignity) is CitiesXL, but with the demise of the developers, the game never got updated and will never get ported. This looks pretty good from the trailer, hopefully it will be far better than the mess that was Cities in Motion 2.

Paradox is really a great developer. It was the first major developer to commit to releasing all games on Linux (even at the same time as the windows release) and makes the best strategy games out there, that make Civ 5 and others look like a children's game in comparison. They have been intent on taking away all my free time since I bought the first Victoria game in 2004, have probably spent thousands of hours on their games, now they're going to take away even more precious time with a x0city sim.
Like the trailer said this isn't being developed by Paradox, only published by them. The development studio is the one behind the Cities in Motion games.

So I take it FM14 did well on Linux? That should be a good sign as to further Linux support from Sega then.

Virtual Programming Are Working To Improve The Witcher 2 On Linux

It is good that they are working to improve their port. It seems even their Mac ports have had some issues: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?553563-Why-does-Paradox-still-use-Virtual-Programming-for-their-Mac-ports [External Link].

Civilization V Strategy Game Launches Natively On SteamOS Linux

I wonder if this means just Firaxis, or Take2 as a whole... GTAV on Linux, anyone?
Take Two is running 2K Games and Rockstar as two vastly different/independent branches and Firaxis has a lot of autonomy within 2K as well. So I certainly wouldn't extrapolate from 2K to Rockstar at all. Take DRM as an example. 2K typically uses Steamworks/CEG as its only DRM while Rockstar has up to several layers of DRM that each, on their own are much more draconian than CEG. Rockstar wouldn't even divulge how high the activation limit for Max Payne 3 is. AFAIK Rockstar has no real tradition for bringing their games to Mac while 2K Games does. Just some of the differences. I have basically 0 hope for any Rockstar game coming to Linux. But I am boycotting them any way due to DRM.

Are they called Virtual Programling because that is what they do as opposed to real programming? :P

Ask The Community: Your Thoughts On The Steam Client Being DRM
29 May 2014 at 7:39 pm UTC

When I tested Half-Life 2 for DRM I was able to install it on a 2nd machine using a simple copy and paste operation ftom a DVD. Steam DIDN'T need to be running or online for the installation procedure. As far as the consequences of banning I don't think that bars you from access to download and/or install your games any more. They changed that functionality a while ago IIRC. However does games that are DTM do NOT need to authenticate at ANY point otherwise they wouldn't be DRM free. Others point to the EULAs and Dteam TOS but AFAIK even GOG has similar language.
