I don't use Ubuntu for years but I'm always following the development and install it to mess a bit and then return to OpenSUSE or Fedora.

But I agree with you, Ubuntu is a safer choice as it simply work.

And Steam Snap sounds interesting, looks like it has lower performance currently, but if they manage to make it on par, it'll be great as it will use the "Oibaf" Mesa, while the OS can stay on stable version.

I use the experimental -vulkan option on CSGO, I hope that they updates it to enable the resolution change.

I didn't see any similarity to FEAR, maybe it's more noticeable when playing.

But it really looks good

Quoting: KimyrielleEA thrived all these years not from making great games, but from a handful of strong IP franchises such as FIFA and NHL, people keep buying because of the license year after year, not such much because the games are good.

The only real hope is EA's competitors finally realizing how weak EA's games are and finally find the courage to directly compete with them. Like how Cities Skylines wiped out EA's Sim City line after EA ran it into the ground. I am waiting for somebody to pick up the Sims, too. And since FIFA pulled the license from EA, there is some hope for the sports game genre, too. Let's see!
It's a bit sad to be honest, EA was amazing in the past, a ton of good titles, but nowadays it has only two untouchable titles: FIFA and The Sims (TS5 will release soon)

But I disagree that the success of FIFA is because of the FIFA's name, the success is because the competitor is eFootball, which has an atrocious release, making even the most hardcore fan of PES start playing FIFA.

Another thing is that licensing is important to this kind of games, and EA has a ton of money to do this. Even if EA renames it to EA Soccer or whatever, it'll still sell a lot.

There's UFL too, but who knows when it will release and it's only for consoles initially.

Sounds like a pretty good distro, looks like firefox improved a lot the startup time on snap and it's performing better in benchmarks than non-snap version.

Maybe I'll try Ubuntu again in the next LTS

It's a lot better, but it still feels like beta software, it should take a bit more time on the oven.

And i disliked how hidden is the inventory there.

This is nice! I hope that they reach an usable state soon™.

But what I find interesting in this post is about the usage of Zink. Zink is amazing dude, it guarantee that we won't have a bad support to OGL in newer cards if they decide to not support old techs on it.

Quoting: fagnerlnSteam deck looks perfect: size, ergonomics, weight, etc... But would be nice if they invest in some external gpu solution in a newer version.
For 5 potential customers out there?
Well, it's up to how expensive would be the gpu dock.

I prefer to play on a big screen than on my monitor, I would remove the GPU on my desktop to use on Deck without problems, the iGPU is decent to my use.

What is wrong with browsers or web apps? Are they inferior compared to a native application?
If you use YouTube on a smart tv using the browser and the app you'll notice how much better is to use with the remote controller
