Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition launches on PC on March 21st

I just want Ghost of Tsushima now on Steam Deck / PC Linux!

Regarding Horizon, I am very curious to see how this game performs on the Steam Deck. With some minor hiccups, I think Sony has released games in generally a good state on PC and with an effort in getting them to support the Steam Deck as well, so I am optimistic.

SteamOS 3.5.7 released, plus Steam Deck Client update and Power LED changes coming

which should be interesting to LE users
Probably missing something obvious here, but what are "LE users" using?
Maybe because the LE is translucent, it is more annoying if the power LED is very strong. Could be that they can even see it lit up through the shell when playing in darkness. Something you don't really see on a standard shell.

Steam Deck OLED is just pure joy - the definitive Steam Deck

Quoting: 1xokThe colors on the OLED always seem oversaturated to me.
I was wondering about that too. The LCD unit just seems sharper and cleaner to me, versus the red blur bleeding through everything on the OLED unit. Tough to judge image quality through a picture, but sharpness is sharpness, and the OLED screen just seems to lose a lot of detail and its gradients are way less subtle.
If referring to the image in the article, that may be because the image doesn't have the same color depth as the OLED screen, causing the many color variations of the OLED screen to be displayed as one of the fewer colors of the image. In contrast the LCD screen has a lower color depth than the image itself, so there you will see the "entire" color range on the image.

Edit/addition:
Even if the image could show all the colors of the OLED screen, the camera capturing the picture may not have enough dynamic range itself to capture all the colors of the OLED screen, leaving it to capture the closest to the colors it has available.

Quoting: MasterSleortAnyone knows if it works on the original Alienware Steam Machine? I read that it didn't in the last updated so didn't upgrade mine.
I wanted a Steam Machine, but never could justify the price of one (somehow I justify the price of an accelerator board for my Amiga instead...) But amusingly, you can get much more powerful 'NUC' styled systems now that perform a similar function.
Totally agree and really it is not worth much anymore, but for some local multiplayer games it works just fine. But most importantly I just like to keep it going for as much as possible and hate that a software update basically renders it useless 😛
Agreed! Granted, I would have just slapped Debian on one and kept it going that way. Now with the Deck UI being available on standard Steam, you could just set it up to boot straight into that.
From what I gather though, it appears to be a problem in the Vulkan drivers from Nvidia.... I don't expect much luck on getting an updated driver for such old and closed hardware. So installing debian, Ubuntu or Holoiso probably won't help for the Big Picture mode at least.
Good it's my only device with Nvidia. I remember being cautious about that as well back when it was new, but I wanted to support Valves initial efforts on Linux. At some point I might just mod something else into it, as I kinda like the design of the case/shell.

Flycast emulator for Dreamcast, Naomi, Naomi 2 gets a big upgrade

My absolute favourite console! Still have mine and even play online once in a while on it and play with KallistiOS on it as well.

Great to see the dedication by these guys. I love using flycast on the Steam Deck, was partly one of the things I looked forward to when I got mine.

Steam now allows transferring games between PCs and Steam Deck too

Can't wait for this to land in stable. Normally I am bleeding edge with next to everything, but with my Steam Deck I just want a stable experience, to minimize the risk of running into issues on the go.

This is such a great game! I can only recommend with the visuals, great soundtrack and fun driving.

My only gripe, which may seem contradictory to me recommending the game, is the controls. It sometimes feels very binary, where even the slightest adjustment to direction, causes the wheels to feel like they turn completely. Its hard to describe, but following long curved roads can be quiet hard compared to other games. Unfortunately, the developers do not seem interested in fixing it [External Link]. But once you get over that and learn that you must drive like with a keyboard, it is very fun!

Intel's Linux Vulkan Driver readying up a 60%+ speed boost "in draw throughput"

Quoting: wit_as_a_riddleThis is only potentially useful for people relying on their intel CPU chip's integrated graphics, correct? No benefit for anyone using AMD or NVIDIA.
Or the discrete Arc graphics that might/might not ever get released. They would probably use the same driver.
