What games do you want ported to Linux? Feral Interactive want to know again
13 Aug 2017 at 8:55 pm UTC

Quoting: MasterSleortI value open world games since they have often have offer great replayability. I would therefore like to see

-GTA:V
-The Witcher 3
-Assassin's Creed/Ghost Recon/The Division (would also open up for other Ubisoft games, since many of them use the same engine and ofc would also mean Ubisoft are open for Linux)
- Rise of the Tomb Raider

And then a racing game
- Assetto Corsa
As you can see, I already made a wish list, but I wanted to add some more games (many I think have not been mentioned at all...)

-South Park: The Fractured But Whole (South Park: The Stick of Truth is also welcome)
-Sim City 4: Rush Hour
-The Movies by Lionhead Studios
-Warcraft 3 & Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne
-GTA: San Andreas
-Thief (2014)
-Anno 1404 & Anno 1404 Venice
-Metro: Exodus
-Mini Ninjas

So far it seems Doom, Bioshock and The Witcher 3 are popular choices.
I would appreciate if we would not talk all the time about games that are out of the question or simply do not make sense. Doom, for example, runs under Wine better than any Feral port. Anyone who wants it has already bought it. Feral would not make money and Linux as a gaming platform would not be more attractive either.

The game that is most lacking is GTA V. Countless people do not switch to Linux because of GTA.

Personally I would like Elite: Dangerous for Linux. But actually not as a Port but directly from Frontier. So I bought a PlayStation 4 for the time being.
I don't think GTA is the reason people are not on Linux it's a big game but it's not the biggest reason given more people play COD/BF/Madden/Fifa than GTA
Well for a long time, GTA:V was the only game on Steam's top 10 that hadn't been released on Linux. Right now though there are a few more, but these games look like new releases, so it's hard to tell whether they will stay there.

I agree that there are many factors when people consider switching to Linux, but I think a game like GTA:V could be an important factor. A game like this on Linux also symbolizes that it is a strong platform.

Dying Light & Dead Island Definitive Edition might soon work on Mesa

Quoting: Linas
Quoting: PublicNuisanceAlthough even with AMDGPU Pro drivers my RX480 had about 20 FPS on low so not like Mesa could have been much worse.
Wow, that's quite bad. I was planning to get myself an RX580, but with this performance level, even a modest NVIDIA card would beat it.

Is it as bad with all the games? Would it be possible to run something like Mankind Divided on AMD graphics?
I think it is. I am able to play DE: Mankind Divided on 4K, almost everything maxed out on my Fury X (with latest stable mesa) with around 30fps. It sometimes drops below, but I am also taxing it quite much :D Right now I don't have it installed, so I can't test performance on 1080p resolution. Also I don't really like the game, but that's another story...
Also Hitman I can play at 4K resolution on everything maxed out with framerates between 30 and 60 fps. Same goes for Mad Max, where it very rarely drops below 45 fps and generally stays around 60 fps at 4k and everything maxed out.

My experience with mesa has certainly been good as of late, and while there still is some hickups here and there, it still is a very nice experience.

Could be a reference to Geralt infusing in his bath too... Just saying.

Edit: The link is not working but it refers to "Borch's Weapons" (Téa and Véa)
I would love to see that being the case <3
If it was Witcher 3 cd project red would of leaked it already have a feeling its either Shadow Warrior 2 or Shogun 2
They did already leak it two years ago https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-confirmed-for-linux-steamos.3861 :D

Joking aside (for some other joking...) Now we have to come up with excuses as to why they haven't leaked it yet. It could be that they want to be sure that Feral can actually deliver. Imagine they went out and announced The Witcher 3 for Linux again and then failed to deliver once again. Better to keep it a UFO at Feral and let it disappear in the hopefully very unlikable event that it (whatever it is) could not be ported to Linux.

Nier: Automata (Japanese: ニーア オートマタ Hepburn: Nīa Ōtomata?, stylized as NieR:Automata)
And is a squenix game.
Would love it to be N:A but unlikely:

Still it's Square Enix who developed and published the game. They have a quite good history with Linux and seems to also have a good relationship with Feral Interactive.

edit: Also the repsonse "If we bring NieR: Automata to Linux one day, we'll probably let someone know." is rather ambiguous. It could simply be Feral's way of saying "When it's released you'll know" or the usual teasing on their radar could be their way of letting someone know and lastly "someone" could be someone like Liam and not the rest of us :D

I am very certain that this is Total Was: Shogun 2 even though it is already available for Mac. In my opinion the steamdb and the latest history for Total War: Shogun 2 speaks for itself. Most of the changes appears to be Linux related not to mention that Linux was added to the os list two months ago.

edit: besides that, if it turns out to be TW:Shogun 2 I will be very pleased. I really like the japanese setting.

F1 2016 won't be coming to Linux, as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough

Quoting: UltraAltesBrotThat means other Feral ports seem to have been a financial success.. which is good i guess?
How many of them had a sequel ported to prove?
Total War series
And XCOM
And generally releasing new ports/games. They wouldn't keep porting games if only a fraction of them becomes financially viable. Hopefully most of their games released on Linux is a good investment.

I do wonder whether Feral proposes a game developer to port their game or if the game developer/publisher asks Feral to do so. Nevertheless, I do hope that they have two games on their wishlist to port: GTAV and The Witcher 3 :D

@miro you enable the launcher, by holding down crtl while starting the game.

Admittedly I haven't tried, but it says so in the launcher if disabling it.

edit:

Maybe I was a little too fast on the trigger. I wrote it before reading you already knew that :D

An explanation of what Mesa is and what graphics cards use it

For those of you that want the latest stable mesa driver for AMD (or intel for that matter), the following ppa can be used: ppa:paulo-miguel-dias/pkppa [External Link]

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:paulo-miguel-dias/pkppa
sudo apt-get update

I just thought I'd add it, like the "Intel® Graphics Update Tool" in the article ;)
