The Steam Hardware Survey for September 2016 shows Linux has grown some more

I'm feeling left out now, I have 3 PCs with the Steam client installed, two that are used regularly/almost daily and have never in years seen a single survey :(

The Humble Artifex Mundi Bundle has all its Hidden Object games with full Linux support

I have most of the Artifex Mundi games and really enjoy them. I find them really relaxing, the stories are well written and if you care about steam stats they're really easy to get all the Achievements and get a "Perfect Game" stat in your steam profile. I've 100% completed 10 of them.

Steam now has above 2,500 Linux & SteamOS games available

Quoting: skinnyrafA few months ago I looked at my gaming backlog, I looked at good games available for Linux/SteamOS and came up with a genius plan to solve my backlog issue: don't buy any new Windows only games, complete what I have in the library and then become Linux only.

How naive I was. There are so many great games for Linux, my wishlist has 57 games for SteamOS and the backlog is growing again.
I'm the same, I have more than enough quality games in my steam backlog (over 300) that I will never need to buy a Windows only game again. I set a rule for myself that other than FIFA and Pro Evo for my son, if a game doesn't support Linux I won't buy it. I haven't felt like I've missed out this year, I've had more than enough games to play.

I think things are really improving since steamos has been released, not so long ago we were getting games like Tuxracer and other small shareware type games, now we're getting games like Tomb Raider, Borderlands, Deus Ex, Stellaris, Total War Warhammer, etc, etc, as well as an increase in the number of smaller games. Vulkan has only been released for about 6 months and will surely reduce the cost and effort to port to Linux, and when Unity with vulkan is complete and Linux support is finished for Unreal 4 things will surely improve some more.

The best thing we can do is vote with our wallets, only buy games with Linux support, and do without the EA and Ubisoft windows only franchises that are mostly stale and uninnovative anyway.

You can help fund the Unreal Engine Editor development specifically for Linux compatibility

I just found out about this and have added my support, the guy is now up to $565 per month of his target $1k, and good luck to him. As Silas above said the potential impact of his contributions is HUGE, if it becomes simple and cost effective for a games developer to add support for Linux/Vulkan in Unreal 4, and some of the bigger games get native support, or easily ported, we get more games, more people will then take Linux seriously as a PC gaming platform, which will make it more profitable for developers, which in turn will attract more people to try Linux.

All the major engines are getting Vulkan support built into them, the next step then is Linux platform support and that could have an enormous impact on the number of games we get.

Obviously it would be better if Epic themselves were adding support, but allowing community contributions is a bit unusual, and it makes sense I think in todays risk-averse gaming industry, there is a crowd funding community that are happy to sponsor these less profitable endeavours and it can only benefit the community if it is successful.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Chaos Rising and Retribution announced for Linux this month!

This is a really nice surprise, hopefully (fingers crossed) its being done in preparation for DOW 3, but even if not these are great games that I've had a lot of fun with and will play through again.

I'll buy all 3 from the Feral store to support them, I haven't got Retribution in my steam library so will be good to play that expansion for the first time on Linux.

Feral are really knocking it out of the park this year.

GOG withdraw their statement about The Witcher 3 never planned for Linux, they have no idea

Quoting: EhvisSo..... who want to take a gamble whether or not they will announce Linux support for Cyberpunk 2077. :P
I've given up on GOG/CD Project Red at this point. A Linux version of GOG Galaxy has been one of the most requested features on the user wishlist for YEARS, and has been 'in progress' according to the FAQ for years and years with no updates. I've lost all hope of GOG/CDPR porting anything to Linux.

The latest Steam Hardware Survey is out

Has anyone actually ever had a survey on Linux? I have 3 Linux machines that regularly run Steam games and have the steam client loaded at startup and I've not once had a survey.

Developer of advanced flight simulator X-Plane blogs about Vulkan

Quoting: GuestMore work up front, but less work in the long run. Little to no worrying about various drivers having various bugs on various platforms...better performance...I think Vulkan should be chosen for anyone writing an engine.
Unreal 4, Source 2 and EA/DICEs Frostbyte engine will all support Vulkan. I'm hopeful for a big increase in the number of games that will release with Linux support.

Atari Vault released for Windows, Linux build coming soon

I agree with your comments about not pre-ordering. I pre-ordered Total War Warhammer as it had Linux support announced, and now on the Steam page only has Windows is listed as an OS :( I've asked the community manager what the plans are for Linux, but not had any reply. I can understand that the developers run into issues but I just wish they would keep people informed if their release plans change.
