tonyrhThey are the worst!

At least they had offered refund for bakers backers when Linux was cancelled. ;)

Never had the "0 byte download" bug before... now I have it, niiiiiice!

Edit: it seems that it was only for the first launch after the update!

Steam Play Proton 4.2-6 is out, DXVK rebuilt for increased performance

It's going too fast! I did not even have time to test versions 4.2-4 and 4.2-5 with the few Windows games (Virginia and Mirror's Edge, I have to install Remember me) I have (okay, I played native To the Moon last week-end)!

shorbergA rare member of the "favourites" category in my Steam library. If you enjoy the style I can warmly recommend Rakuen.

Already in my wishlist! I will try to have a look at it when my Steam backlog will be a bit less encumbered!

To the Moon, the game was sitting in my library since December 2016 so I think it's more than time to have a look at it! Not bad so far (about 1 hour in it), sad story with an old console era vibe for the graphics and gameplay!

What Never Was, a short free story-driven adventure game now has Linux support

Played it some weeks ago, imho the first person view needs a bit more polishing for immersion (it's too "rigid" for my taste) and the "quality of life" in the inventory could be also improved (the game needs a manual rotation because now you have to wait during the slooooow automatic rotation if you want to see the other side of an object)... but it could become a good game as it is a nice "proof of concept" (note that the key remapping wasn't working for me)!

BotonoskiThough I doubt any sort of corruption would cause my PC to randomly shut off.

Indeed, might be your PSU if you are experiencing random shutdowns!

einherjarHi Liam,

do you use Kubuntu 19.04?
If yes, does everything related to Steam and Gaming run as good as on Ubuntu? Including thins like using graphics driver ppa?

I am considering switching back to KDE. Therefore I ask.

I can only speak for Kubuntu 18.04 (coming from Ubuntu 16.04, Unity DE), but zero problem with it for Steam and gaming (or whatever else I use in my work) (Nvidia with proprietary drivers - 418.56 - added with the "graphics-drivers" ppa)!

Edit:

EikeI'm using Debian with KDE, and gaming on Steam works really well. So Kubuntu should be all fine. You shouldn't need to install Kubuntu, to use KDE, BTW. Installing KDE and choosing it on login should he sufficient.

I've encountered difficulties when trying to install Kubuntu 18.04 on my girlfriend's PC (previously on vanilla Ubuntu 18.04) with live-DVD and live-USB and I've performed these steps for fully migrating (following a tutorial on ubuntu-fr.org):

sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop

Then I've selected SDDM instead of GDM (when prompted by the terminal) as a login manager. An then:

sudo apt install deborphan

Then:

sudo apt remove `apt-cache depends ubuntu-desktop | cut -d : -f 2 | grep gnome`
sudo apt remove `dpkg -l | grep gnome | cut -d \  -f 3`
sudo apt remove $(deborphan)

On next reboot KDE might be broken, so switching to terminal (ctrl + alt + F2) and log with login and password

sudo apt reinstall kubuntu-desktop

...or maybe "sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop" I'm not sure... but after that the PC was on Kubuntu without any bug or whatever...

Edit: obviously that might not be the cleanest way to have Kubuntu 18.04 but as a fresh install was failing...

A look at what's on sale ahead of the weekend once again, come find your next game

tuubiIf I "Add a Non-Steam Game", Steam doesn't even try to link it to a game being sold on their store, and that means the developer sees nothing. It just provides a launcher and starts the Steam overlay before you start the game.

Ah, sorry, I was believing that Steam would link it if available on the store... So yeah, probably doesn't count as "played on Linux" or anything else if Steam does not report back to the dev' (that's unfortunate)...
