Quoting: TheSyldatWe The Revolution look like they took Osmotic Studios "animated origami" plugins home made plugins to the next level ...

( Legit it looks like Orwell season 1 and 2 taken to new heights )

So now I'm intrigued especially with a game making you play a "judge of the people" during the terror ...
There's also State of Mind (a good story-driven game if you don't mind linear & dirigiste gameplay) with this kind of aesthetic... :)

Quoting: Purple Library GuyNot sure I get you.
Difference in quantity of games available on Windows vs Linux doesn't matter that much in this case because the offer vastly exceed demand: I have about 150 games on my Steam library, which is less than 3% of the games currently available on Linux, and you will find a few users with about 1500 games on their Steam library... but 90% 99% of Steam users have less than 15 100 games on their library (I have the "right" numbers from 2015 somewhere on an old post, I have to find it * edit : got it *). So, when median demand is about two a few games a year to buy it doesn't matter that much that offer is about 5000, 10 000 or 20 000 games available (I may be wrong, I'm not a specialist in economy). :)

Edit: my memory is not as great as it was, we know (via Steamspy, end of 2015 or beginning of 2016) that only 1% of Steam "active" accounts have more than 100 games in their library (which should not have changed that much), median demand for an "average" Steam user is probably not that far from a few games to buy a year.

Edit(2): note that the growth of the offer, even in the case of Linux market, is probably higher than the growth of the demand for more than 99% of Steam active users.

Quoting: pageroundIf the global average of Linux players is 0.8% and only half of the games sold support Linux, then you would expect sales for the half that supports Linux to be 2* 0.8 ~= 1.6%. Maybe a little less now due to steam play.
I think that we have probably already reached the point where offer largely exceeds demand (your point should be valid only if demand exceeds offer). :)

Interesting! Note that France may have a strong Linux market share but if you compare with other countries (US, UK and Germany) it also has the lowest global market share for this game (units - Win, Mac and Linux - sold by inhabitant, assuming that there is more or less the same percentage of gamers vs global population in each country - again, only looking at France, US, UK and Germany -, which may not be the case). :)

What have you been playing recently and what do you think of it?

  • Montague's Mount: less than average game imho, frustrating in its execution...

  • Virginia (SteamPlay / Proton): nice game, but it's not for everyone (the game as not a lot of gameplay in it, but the execution - visuals and audio - is very good)...

  • Oxenfree: really a great game! :)

Quoting: callciferThese are my reports, all platinum, all strongly recommended :)
I can confirm that Virginia works indeed well with Proton 3.7-8 after a quick test yesterday! It will probably be my only adventure in Proton's land but Virginia seems a game worth this little excursion outside my "will only buy native" rule. :)

Quoting: Purple Library GuySort of moot given that I seem to remember NVidia doesn't work with Wayland.
I'm not a technical guy and I don't follow this subject closely, but I think it works via EGLStreams at least in last iterations of GNOME/Mutter and the code is currently under review for Plasma/KWin (source for Plasma/KWin [External Link]. :)

The war of the PC stores is getting ugly, as Metro Exodus becomes a timed Epic Store exclusive

For developers, the short-term gain might be good but do they really, honestly, expect the free to play Fortnite audience which is Epic's bread and butter to translate into sales for AAA games?
I'm sceptical on this too... Granted Epic has a lot of players with its free to play Fortnite, but on the other hand Steam has a lot of players who are also customers buying games for real (even if it's a minority of Steam audience as only a few percents of Steam user-base have more than a few games on its library - I've the numbers from 2015 somewhere)... :|

Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

If I have enough time it will be State of Mind, or just some quick sessions on Hollow Knight... or maybe both if it's a real lazy Sunday. ^_^
