Valve have released the full details of the Valve Index VR system, limited pre-orders tomorrow

Quoting: GuestWell, to be fair, what you end up with is still a price for this VR kit that people will balk at, regardless of whether it's a fair price from a manufacturer perspective or not.
The interesting thing is that there is a lot of tunnel vision behind this. Last year I went on a 10 day holiday and was down a thousand euro. Nobody blinks an eye if you tell that. If I now take that money to buy this thing and take my week off to use it, people will look at you like you just wasted a ton of money. Perception is a weird thing.

Quoting: DerpFoxThe full pack should have been at 500€ MAXIMUM to be interesting. And at that price it would still have been really expensive. And a good price would have been 300€.
I agree! And my house should have cost no more than €10000, because that would have been a good price!

Epic looking fantasy RPG 'Edge Of Eternity' still plans a Linux release, not soon though

Have had my eye on this one since the start. Patiently awaiting a Linux release though.

NuSuey beat you to it? Did you check if he's ok? That must have been a substantial shock! :D

Oh cool! I wonder if they've also moved from OpenGL to Vulkan.

Valve released a stable Steam Client update yesterday, some nice fixes in for Linux and Steam Play

What would you like to see improved next in the Steam Client?
Tagging, tagging and tagging.

I cannot possibly be the only one who want to use these multidimensionally, like
* played through / given up / unplayed / give a second chance
* gift / advertising gift
* genre
* co-op / couch co-op / solo / online competetive
* ...
Yes, but some of the tags I'd want for filtering (genres), others I'd want for hiding (finished, windows). Not entirely sure how you would make that into a nice gui.

Side-scrolling shoot 'em up 'Origami Flight' now supports Linux

Quoting: NezchanI think one problem shooters have is that "somewhat skillful at such games" seems to be the base for them. There's no entry level at all, you just need to already be good somehow (or willing to put up with a lot of frustration) in order to play them in the first place.
This seems to be a legacy from the 80s. With the memory limitations of the time, these autoscrolling games couldn't really have more than about 20-30 minutes of actual level. So they couldn't really have you blow through that in one go. Seems like modern shmups have changed little in that regard.

Roguelike fantasy-adventure Vambrace: Cold Soul delayed until May
16 Apr 2019 at 10:04 am UTC

Quoting: 14Hmm, how does it compare with Darkest Dungeon? The reason Darkest Dungeon is not on my wish list is because it looks like more management than I find enjoyable. I have beaten hard games like Dark Souls I, III, and Bloodborne, so I don't always hate a challenge. Darkest Dungeon just sounds more like work than play. (This is coming from an EVE Online player to boot.) To each his own on that regard. Anyway, Vambrace looks very interesting and pretty to look at. I am very interested in reading/watching some reviews and possibly picking it up.
I haven't actually played Darkest Dungeon myself, but watched a lot of it on Twitch. Not sure what you mean by "management", but at it's core it is a turn based combat game. There is a management component as you need to manage you hamlet upgrades and such. There is a strategy component in selecting and using your party for missions. The challenge here is probably mostly related to overcoming the RNG component instead of the type of skill needed to get through From games.

Combat for this game looks heavily inspired by DD. The rest seems different though. It's a bit hard to tell since the trailer is very vague. Will have to see.

Satirical point & click adventure 'Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love' is coming to Linux

That looks pretty cool. Didn't really expect an actual point and click from Artifex Mundi. I suppose the last one already took a big leap towards the traditional P&C games, so maybe this is their way of appealing to a different audience.

DXVK 1.0.3 is released while work towards fixing up DXVK 1.1 continues

Looking at the issues on github, it seems that dxvk is now in a stage that has a lot of fixing things that don't match the undocumented behaviour on windows. Something that Wine has had to deal with as well. Achieving bug for bug compatibility doesn't sound like the most fun thing to do.
