Linux Gaming News Punch - Episode 8

There are a few games on Linux that resemble Diablo. Torchlight is the obvious one. Others (like Victor Vran) may have a few notable differences, but I hope Last Epoch will do its own thing as well.

Aspyr Media confirm the free "Ultra HD" DLC for Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel is coming to Linux

Quoting: witikoInstead of thanking Aspyr Media, they should be rebuked.
And you have inside knowledge that Aspyr could have finished it but decided not to? That it was not maybe Gearbox that only gives them the stuff when they finished so that they only have to hand it over once?

TUNG was fun stuff. If only I had more time! It was in need of a few quality of life improvements though. But it may have gotten those already.

It would be nice if they added a "campaign" with some puzzles to get you started. It looks like the "challenges" may be that thing. Wishlisted.

Game launcher Lutris has another release out, adding a little spit and polish

Quoting: MaathI am trying to understand the problem that Lutris is there to solve. I thought it was the problem of avid Linux gamers being crushed under the weight of their massive digital game libraries, but I am not sure now.
Mostly a launcher/manager of games. And for those that use wine, a manager of various wine builds and features.

Quoting: MaathFirst, does Lutris require a account?
No, the account is optional. With it, you can share your library between the website and the client.

Quoting: MaathSecond, at least one person here mentioned that it cannot automatically import your existing games. I thought this would be the number one most important feature.
It can, it's just not flawless.

Quoting: MaathAlternatively, is there another program that can manage a huge game library, and present a nice interface for selecting a game to play?
There is an article from a few weeks back that mentioned "Gamehub". It doesn't do the integrated Wine management though, so it's less useful for those looking for that.

Linux Game Jam 2019 is officially live, go make something cool

With regard to time it's kind of unfortunate that they chose to end before easter. Most people will have a long weekend which would have worked nicely for a little project.

2D team-based building and raiding game 'Scrunk' leaving Early Access and going free this month

The big problem with this game was that it was completely unusable on your own. No way to even practice since you couldn't start anything without a second team. So no reason to hang out on the server for long than to check if anyone was there. Which meant that the chances that you actually found anyone playing were almost zero.

Indie devs should realise that they can't magically get enough players in their game. They should have something entertaining to keep people in the game even if player numbers are low.

Tropico 6 releases today with Linux support from Limbic Entertainment and Kalypso Media

It crashed for me, but that was fixed by setting the launch options to "LC_ALL=C %command%". First time that I actually needed to do that.

As Liam already mentioned, heavy on the frames when zoomed out tilted to a very horizontal angle. Still around 35 for me, which I don't really notice too much with GSYNC on.

Dark sci-fi action RPG 'Hellpoint' looks good in the new trailer, still coming to Linux
29 Mar 2019 at 12:23 pm UTC

Is it just me or is this the most unimpressive trailer ever? I thought a trailer was supposed to get you excited or even hyped to try something. Sometimes to a point where the game can't live up to it. But this just seems completely underwhelming and leaves me without any desire to try the game.

Valve have put out a new Steam Client Beta, it's small but good for Steam Play users

I think my most used reason for going to the Steam overlay might be to just check the time.

Initially, I wanted Dirt Rally 2.0. But since that game is now on my blacklist due to the always online requirement of the single player campaign, this will be an interesting alternative. All I need now is "Extra Time (Linux)". :D
