Valve's card game Artifact has lost almost all players and designer Richard Garfield has left

As for the problem? I don't see the monetisation model as the big issue since the market has proven that there are always enough people to keep spending money on things. Besides there is plenty of gameplay to be had without spending a dime. Which means the problem must also be with the game.
I personally see two problems. One is with myself. This game requires quite a bit of effort to be decent at. And I seem to have to little time with enough focus to do it. The bigger problem I have is with the deck stacking RNG that leaves games dead in the water before you even start. Then again, if I see the winning streak numbers in the Call to Arms games, then this is probably also at least partially attributed to the first problem. If people win 15 games in a row, then they must have some ways to deal with unfavourable stacking. Maybe it is simply a case of too few people having the time or willingness to get good at it.

Quoting: rkfgWell, apparently the 1.5 million customers abandoned the game that they could have still been playing.Quoting: gradyvuckovicThe important thing is that they just brush it off and move onto the next idea to try.You mean, just abandon about 1.5m [External Link] customers? Not a good move from the business point of view. The brand loyalty is finite. Blizzard were known as a company that only makes great games, instant classics and so were Bioware. I hope Valve don't want to join them.

Quoting: subI somehow doubt it.There is always the option that they went back to the original authors and got a licence of some sort that doesn't require them to release anything.

And developed on Linux. That explains why it said "Windows & Linux" instead of using the dreaded "PC & Linux". ^_^

Quoting: ArehandoroInteresting, Shadow of the Tom Raider and Life is Strange 2 already appear as available for Linux.Maybe that signals that Feral is already the beneficiary of the purchase. Just as a pre-order. Could also be a mistake of course.
Armello, the really fun fairy-tale digital board game had a huge upgrade

Quoting: ixnariI respectfully disagree. This situation in particular had less to do with following strict DRM free guidelines and more to do with the developers, League of Geeks, using bait and switch tactics and not being transparent with their customers.I don't really know all the details for this particular game as it doesn't really interest me. But the general problem is still a real one. Many DLCs from multiplayer games are essentially just an authentication code because all the content is already included in the base game. If a store is not willing to sell these authentication code dlcs, then the only alternative is to remove the content from the base game and with that the ability to play with it against non-dlc owners. Anything after that is bound to be bad for owners. Although technically DRM, I don't think these DLC should be counted as such as long as they can be installed and used offline (even though the game may be useless offline).

Quoting: Avehicle7887This was the one example that demonstrated that an abiding by an overly strict definition of DRM free actually hurts customers. Don't recall any others, but I doubt most games with similar problems would even try to get on gog.Quoting: KlaasIs this the micro-transactions game that was removed from GOG because the developer couldn't sell them without DRM?Yup, that very same game. It was also one of those games some GOG users were happy to see it gone.
Dead Cells is getting a huge free update 'Rise of the Giant' that's due soon, available for testing

As for beating the first boss. The good thing about roguelites is that you can use your hard earned cells to unlock things to make it easier for each run. Maybe you're not picking the things that would help you most.

Quoting: brokkrI don't turn my nose up at free content but it does baffle me a bit that when roguelites add more content, it's inevitably catering to the hardcore. With 20 hours in Dead Cells and still no bosses conquered, I officially suck at it and have put it aside for now (although I enjoyed my 20 hours of suck). I can definitely see myself returning for new content that was actually accessible to me. New content at the end of the rainbow on the other hand is worth well, nothing. But if you haven't gotten past a boss, then you still have plenty of content waiting from the base game as well. So in that sense it's not really something specific to a DLC.

This is one of those games where the delay may have been a positive one. Now they've had some time to work on the game and polish it so we get to have a better experience from the start. Count me in.
