Quoting: GuestUpdates were released which resolved all of that... true we never got it on par with Windows mainly due to the issues with GL and streaming data, but it was good and very playable. It works well on overpowered GPUs. I never got a good experience with my previous one. Even though it was above recommended specs. I'd say the biggest problems where VP dropped the ball was releasing this without a testing/beta period. Also the "whiny" style of communication did not really help. Like the "GL has issues" nonsense when the game was still running way better in Wine. Didn't really encourage sympathy. Both might have helped a lot against disgusting behaviour displayed by some. Luckily, VP stuck with it because the newer stuff hasn't given me many issues.

Quoting: ArdjeSo what? Linux gaming does not get better from games that are left in a bad state for years.Quoting: TheRiddickthe developer will probably use this to show that linux sales are poor and not worth the trouble. That seems to happen all to often, never mind the fact people can't play their game.Indeed, I think porting is done mostly because most of us are very enthousiast and happy. A developer works for money *and* pride. Trust me, you can have the most honorable profession, but if people start to shit on you, you either go for the money (we don't have that, we are a minority), or stop altogether. (And trust me on this: you usually get a lot more respect and money in less honorable professions).

Didn't see the update yesterday. I was waiting for this one so I could start a new game that would not be broken by this update. The game is slowly getting better and more interesting. I do wonder if they plan something of a real story or if it's just injecting a bit of lore into the game.

Quoting: KetilIf we want ark to be fixed, I think we must give ark the victories they get intended or not. That way they are less likely to see us as a mistake, too much support for too few buyers. Maybe it is too late, or maybe not. I hope it is not, because I believe this game can be fixed, and if it gets fixed, then it will be quite awesome.I don't agree with you on this one. This game is two weeks away from final release with a triple A price tag. This is completely ridiculous for state of the Linux version of the game. Like it or not, until (if?) the game is finally ported to Vulkan and has it's many problems fixed, the game will be in alpha state for Linux users. In my opinion, Liam is correctly informing potential buyers of the game about what they're potentially getting into.

Doubling the price does come with expectations. The main thing AAA games are better at are graphics and animation. I'm wondering if they actually get the budget to make that happen.
If all goes as planned, would that be the first Linux release that Gearbox is involved in?

Had to look up the original game. It was a point & click adventure. And KING Art does those really well. Plus, it's about time I got one of theirs early after release.

Quoting: ArdjeMeeh, I got a discount coupon for observer, 20% off. But no tux no bucks. If this is released for linux, I want to spend the bucks on the right person. Meeh, no coupon it is.Aspyr did confirm on Steam that it was still coming. They also said that if you want to use the coupon, you'd have to do it now, suggesting the Linux version won't be there within the two weeks it is valid.
