An alternate theory is that the devs just want to go and play Silksong instead of having to do post launch support for their game. :tongue:

I only know of one issue with the Linux version of HX, but I think that is ultrawide related. The aspect ratio of the stag travel "cutscene" is wrong. Weirdly enough it is horizontally squeezed instead of stretched. Other than that I haven't had a single issue that was not skill related.

That said, happy about the native release. That'll push up the buy date to release day.

I use OpenTrack with the IR-led-cap I made myself. It really does improve games like ETS2 and flight sims a lot. You should not see it as a free look option in the same way you would use VR, but more as a hands-off motion controller. ETS2 was set up such that having my head turned to the left edge of my monitor made the game look backward out of the window and the right edge would give me about 90 degrees. It makes playing these sort of games a much nicer experience.

Even processing the filtered IR view is pretty heavy though, so I can't imagine that this software is as "low overhead" as they claim. Good thing was that OpenTrack could output to UDP so I could do the processing on my secondary computer while the game machine only had to forward the UDP stuff to an evdev device. These days it's not so bad though since you'll likely have a core or two to spare.

This does look interesting though. Not needing an IR cap is definitely a plus. However, I tend to often play games in a fairly low light environment, so I wonder how well it would actually work.

That makes me wonder what it would take to port over Neverball to use the gyro. Thinking even further, could that work in VR with a gyro controller or even using the normal tracked controllers?

I really wish more devs made it possible to disable them. Just, run the game without it, connect to servers that don't care (or even better, provide a way to run private servers).

But you're not seeing the bigger picture! Making anti-cheat optional (even to single player) would open the game up for modding. How would this poor publisher make money if you could mod in the things they make you pay big money for. You have to think of the investors!

This sort of thing is unfortunately rather common. And not just Linux. IIRC, this is similar to the beef that OBS had with StreamElements building a modified version with the same name that caused support request going to the wrong project.
