Quoting: JohnologueCan't hear the NVIDIA updates over the fans of my perfectly functional GTX 1070...But... but ... how is nvidia supposed to survive if you don't use their new vibe coded drivers?

Not a thing I'd ever be at risk from. Games would never be able to detect my discord and I'd certainly not give it. Just as discord would never be able to detect my game.

Quoting: vertigoHas anyone played it? I'm looking for more games in the vein of Talos Principle and Portal.Haven't played this one, but going of seeing a bit of the previous one, it's more like the "The Room" series of games. Which are actually quite good. However, if I read between the lines on the reviews and dev responses, they kind of rushed the second half of the game and it's not really good. So it was in need of an update.
Sony PlayStation reportedly moving away from PC ports

Total revenue was probably not all that high compared to PS sales. Mostly likely reasons are: 20%-30% cut by Steam. Late PC releases, so a lot of people that had to wait a year for it might as well wait a few more months for a sale. And I doubt many PS owners would opt for a second copy just to play it on PC, so the market is already reduced. Now if, they'd to simultaneous releases on PC and PS the story might be different. But that would also mean PC would potentially cannibalise part of the PS sales and they definitely don't want that. So the corporate decision is probably that the potential FOMO outweighs the income that they do get.

Quoting: CatKillerMore than anything, it's an admission of a fundamental lack of self-confidence on Sony's part. If you're turning out bangers then PC ports are free money, and advertising for the next game. And that's the view expressed by Sony at the time. When they still had games studios.I'm guessing this was an "excel decision".

It wouldn't surprise me if they still have the idea that they could make some sort of integration into the Linux kernel to make it as "safe" as the windows version. They might be possible if you limit yourself to a single target (like Steam Deck), but I don't think it is feasible in general.

Quoting: elmapulwhat about legacy software? what about legacy operating systems or software that only run properly on legacy operating systems?Clearly the people that wrote up this law don't even understand what an operating system is. Otherwise they would have realised that operating systems aren't actually tied to a single person. So my guess is that they never thought of anything beyond their phone.
what about live-cds? will secure boot be forced uppon us?
and what about content that have a different age rating depending on your region?
there is a reason why we have CERO, ESBR, PEGI, etc.
the definitons of what an certain age group can or cant see vary from country to country, some countries are more liberal with sexually sugesitve content targeted at an younger age, but not for violence, others are the opposite, how the hell they will enforce that?

Quoting: JarmerIf all they're doing by this idiotic law is making a new checkbox that says "are you over 18?" then 🤣Even that would be a risk. It would signal to law makers that the idea works and that they just need to change the requirements for how age is checked.

On deck nothing. On desktop I've finished up my playthrough of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Amazon Luna. The game was good but the Luna experience was subpar. Mostly due to input lag. And after finishing it I ended my Amazon Prime subscription. That was my last subscription service to bite the dust!
More recently I've been playing Lego City Undercover. More fun than I expected. It's basically Lego GTA3. And the best thing: no need for more ram and my GPU isn't even spinning up its fans. 😀
